Find it hard to believe that both Sean Roughan and Paudie O'Connor are gonna end up in League1 again with Huddersfield and Wycombe.
Especially O'Connor, we should be all over him if we persist with a back 5, he's literally Lloydys twin.
Just speculating but maybe O'Connor is aware he might not get much game time ahead of Jones. Obviously all players back themselves and love a challenge but plenty are realistic with this stuff too
I would say more so it's cause we probably aren't interested.
Which is a shame as he would probably start for us or at the very least be good cover in a championship squad. Him and Lloyd as 2 of your back 3 centre backs, good luck with any type of aerial threat.
Maybe get Piergianni in and complete the trio. :-)
One of the highest rated players in the league for the third successive season, imagine my shock.
Only Jones & O'Connor above him statistically for defenders. Piergianni is a top, top defender.

I think I’d be more interested in Roughan, young and left footed centre back’s that are good are rare. If we could develop him he could be worth a lot more in the future
Take both. Roughan has the higher ceiling and potential sell on value, but O'Connor right now is the better defender and more equipped to make the step up imo.
Lloyd has been injured every season we have had him so far, and was struggling towards the end with injuries. The championship is going to be more demanding and if we play a back 5 we need comp in every position. If we go without someone like Lloyd for a number of games again, that could be the difference in staying up.
It's a bit greedy, and unlikely, but,
Edwards - Macca - Jones - Ramsay - Offiah Roughan - Akin F - Paudie - Mitchell - Mulligan
Ridiculous depth, won't be extortionate wages, and all those players have a chance of becoming a first team regular which is what you need in the champ.
Definitely agree Roughan looks very decent, young and left footed, and we 100% need cover there, plus he is out of contract, he seems an obvious choice... but I guess if Akin Famewo is on our radar maybe it's a choice and we are looking at experience?
We certainly need better cover for L. Jones, we fell to pieces without him last season, O'Connor's stats look good but would he have the pace to step up into the Championship?
Agree I think he'd be a good backup to Lloyd and we're going to need that this season. I wouldn't feel comfortable without him out for any period of time in league 1 let alone the Championship.
Can see Z.Mitchell being Jones backup this season. Obviously question marks whether he’s ready for the step up or not but ur saving yourself a lot of money then giving O’Connor very high wages big signing bonus for just simply being Jones backup. I’d happily save that money and throw it towards Offiah knowing he’s a guaranteed starter for that RCB.
Zach might be an excellent footballer, but I don't think he has the strength and aerial power to play the Jones role. Jones is a beast in the air.

for a middling League 1 club
If he was 6 years younger, he wouldn't be at Stevenage, he's been a late bloomer and worked his way up the football leagues, fair play to him.
A very good defender. Whether or not he could play at a higher level we probably won't know.
But every stat he has suggests he could, and there have been far worse players that have played championship football as a centre back. I could name you a fair few for Charlton alone.
Anyway, not much point discussing. It's a bait comment and not entirely relevant.

I don’t think that’s greedy. If we sign Offiah, to me that says we are aiming higher than those Lincoln players
George Saville has left Millwall would be good experience to get in.
Already gone Luton
We will sign him next window then
We’ve moved on from ex Luton players now currently signing all of Blackpools starting XI Casey now looking at Offiah, before u know it Morgan will be back
Quite possibly the worst compiled suggestions list I've ever seen.
Walton is an ok shout as an experienced goalie and of course Dijksteel, but that's already been dismissed, Ajayi also more than likely out of the picture due to wages.
We'd be asking to be relegated if that was our summer window.
I’ll message the person I know at Brighton to see if I can get any info…they do the transfer negotiations in but can see if they know anything.
yeah seems like Brighton don’t think he’s good enough for them and they strongly think he will join us (but you never know what can happen in football). Just asking if it would be a fee or a loan. As if they don’t rate players they usually don’t bother with loans and look to cash in
Thats a proper ITK!
Nathan Jones did some work for Brightons stats company not that long ago about where he thought a RB should play etc (shows how much depth they go into stats and gameplay etc. He will have good ties with Brighton so hopefully they can support us in anyway possible. They rate Doyle highly who was at Exeter/Crawley last year and I mentioned either previously on this thread on last years thread about a 6”6” CAM/ST in Ireland who they think has prem potential.
I normally really like Tom's stuff but he's had a stinker here 😂 a bunch of players that have played with NJ before and Ajayi/Djiksteel is pretty poor.
Tovide is the only interesting one there and even then I don't know if he's got the qualities yet to jump 2 divs.
He’s extremely knowledgeable and prolific on Twitter across lots of levels of football but I’m not sure he’s particularly ITK
as for Luke Plange we were linked a few years ago but he hasn’t really kicked on since then. Not prolific but was highly rated a couple of years ago so there must be something. Possibly a Curbs “hungry & angry” type of punt. Decent size and age too
Would really be a statement if we went for Galbraith now
They allegedly want £4mill for him...
I thought Galbraith struggled for NI last night. Nothing he tried came off and was bullied physically.
When you are scouting professional players it's not normally one good game and we will buy him and one bad game and we won't ! A bit different with academy players where the bigger clubs will buy after 1 viewing on some occasions if the players has many suitors.
Galbraith impressed with his ability to run with the ball which we are well short of in that department and with other Championships clubs interested in him unlikely we would be favourites.
As erratic as Small was he was the only player at CAFC that I would be confident with going past Championship defenders and as well as the mandatory running the ball out of play. There will be more of the former and less of the latter as he matures.
My only nagging concern about next season is having width. I'm not 100% convinced that NJ realises it was the width that turned our season around. If he brings in a defensive-minded RWB who can't stretch the opposition, we'll look like we did in the first-half of last season.
Unless the width comes from elsewhere. Blackpool fans say Carey likes to drift left, if TC then drifts right you essentially have 2 wide players flanking the striker. It relies on Doc/whoever takes his role driving forward too though
TC much better from the left, he’s got to be the one that drifts left. I’d be surprised if Carey takes Berry’s place straight away anyway unless he has a stand out pre-season.
We definitely need a right wing back that can play as a right winger in the way Small did. Maybe Jones thinks Offiah can be converted into that, either way I think we will definitely be signing another option there even if we do get Offiah
I wouldn't be surprised to see a tactical tweak to being much more solid again as per the beginning of last season. NJ clearly likes to build from the back. Agree we will probably sign 2 right sided options though, possibly with one of them able to play on the left too
We will need to be flexible and sdapt to other formations.

Can't think of any songs for "Plange"
ITK!!! I have a friend who is very prominent at Brighton and he’s saying at the moment, Offiah is a yes.

Normally really like Tom's posts, but that's not up to his usual standards!
Also seems to forget we're not in L1 (or has phrased the post badly) on the Tovide part.
I was expecting a couple of random players from the National League given it's a Tom piece and he's got a pretty good eye for a player at that level.
Just didn't feel like his usual standards.
