  • Reaction from @GlassHalfFull - that was a good update from the club, just a pity we've had to wait 10 years for it.

Having never heard him before, I was impressed with Ed Warrick who came over very well.

It looks like our new shirt sponsor will be announced next Thursday. And quite a few changes to The Valley this summer planned.

    Great webinar, thanks CAST!
Definitely worth my £5- even just to see Ed Warrick decked out in the fan sticker album thing😂

Didn’t think I’d finish work in time but had enough so tried registering at 6.50. Spent half hour refreshing my inbox for the activation before seeing on the earlier article that registrations were to 6.30. Perfectly aligned with the rest of my shit day.
AFKA - the webinar was for CAST members so each registration had to be manually approved. Two people were approved at 6.43 but after that we had to close down to ensure we had the personnel to run the webinar, provide socials updates and creat a written record which I hope will be available in a few days

I thought he gave a really good and honest answer to the question about the ticketing problems. I still think they should release an apology on the club website explaining what happened. It was nice however to hear someone from the club admitting that there was an issue and apologising for it, even though it wasn't directly their fault.

Really enjoyed that, good questions and very decent answers without obviously giving anything competitive/commercial away.
Thanks CAST for making it happen and to Ed & Gavin....... they seem like decent guys .......... would love this kind of thing to be a regular (as much as is sensible) thing........ because as much as I'd like to, I live too far away to go to the Bromley Addicks nights etc. and it's nice to have this 'connection' and communication every so often.

I liked them both too. Ed Warrick is very engaging for a finance guy. Gavin Carter is a straight-talker, none of Charlie's PR fog, and he is a proper fan with a history.

Ed Warrick said we have 19,000 plus sold, and the rest go on sale tomorrow at 11.00. I wouldn't be surprised if they are gone by Saturday. The message they kept pushing was "get there early on Thursday".

He actually said we sold 19,000 in 2 days, don’t bank on there being 5,000 available tomorrow people

So the consensus view is there will be around 4,000 tickets on sale tomorrow?

Really good, open and honest chat this.
Warwick came across well. I'm really warming towards Carter. You can just tell he has the very best interests of this club in his heart. The fact he has the owners ear could make him one of the most important people in our immediate future.

Wouldn’t expect so - I’d guess maybe 2K (not in the know)
  • Only going on soundbites I hear from these kinds of club updates....

While I didn't dislike Methven and I thought he was ok, and Rodwell always seems pissed off to be associated with us...

Ed and Gavin are so much more credible and engaging - backing up ambition & plans with knowledge & awareness of the pitfalls ahead. A good first impression.

Question was asked whether the owners are real fans of the club now........ it seems they are on their way to that? ..... they are more engaged as 'fans' than they ever imagined they would be and apparently there's a very active WhatsApp group (owner/SMT....?) during games as they watch or listen to CTV coverage.
    That was good to hear.

So let's hope the reinstate the 'studio' element next year.

Gavin is sound, way more down to earth than a lot of the slimers that have been associated with us in recent years.

All the time we don't own the Valley and Training ground we don't have our Charlton back. FACT.

It looks like our new shirt sponsor will be announced next Thursday. And quite a few changes to The Valley this summer planned.
Changes to the Valley?, did they elaborate?

But they made it very clear that they understand that POV and are addressing it, but that it would be unwise to, as Government PR people say "provide a running commentary" on negotiations. They are happening.

Maybe, but any negotiations with Roland are unlikely to be straightforward. As Sandgaard said, he gets you to his price and then increases it. I don’t expect a commentary but I don’t really put any weight on what is said either. It’s not in their hands.

They said something along the lines of "The Valley will look very different on the first day of the season", I took that to mean better branding around the place, a bit of a freshen up, better service on the concourses etc

I imagine negotiating with RD is a thoroughly unpleasant and futile experience. A bit like trying to pick up a rain-soaked dog turd with your bare hands.

Until this lot have got us promoted, there is no highlight. Anything else is not progression. They can talk and mutter about stuff, tell me about tidying up The Valley, and making things better, and how hard it is etc. But all that is nothing unless we are moving up the leagues.
I'll be impressed once we are promoted.

I’ll be impressed when the lock on trap three is finally repaired, nothing less.

Have they signed up a sponsor for the Valley and painting the ground dark blue to match?
