So, all your ST holders who were panicking so much on Sunday & Monday that you decided to buy all the non ST seats are now returning those tickets & taking up your ST seats.
Many many thanks.
I did offer to get yours on Sunday when I purchased mine …..
What they should've done imo is this. Monday & Tuesday. Allow season ticket holders to buy thier seats and their seats only. No extras. Wednesday. Allow season ticket holders and VG to buy the equivalent of their ST ticket plus 2 extras anywhere they want in the ground including those not taken up on Monday and Tuesday. Thursday put the rest on General sale.
What they should do now is honour their original statement & put all the ST seats on sale TODAY.
All those who panicked bought should accept it. You have a ticket for the match. Accept that you panicked & now have a seat in the West or Block B of the AC stand instead of your usual in North Upper.
I've waited patiently to buy mine. Was originally going to be Tuesday.... then Wednesday. Now its Friday.
All because you couldn't wait an hour or two on Sunday.
Pah !!
And thanks @clive. I stand by what I said. Everyone who wants a ticket will probably get one......if everyone followed the procedures from Sunday onwards.
As one of our 2024/25 or 2025/26 season ticket holders, you
have until 10.59am tomorrow (Wednesday, May 7th) to purchase your season
ticket seat for our huge play-off semi-final against Wycombe Wanderers on
Thursday, May 15th (KO 8pm)!
Unfortunately as I am now informed by the CAFC Ticket office ST 2025/26 were nor being held.
This type of contradiction is unhelpful and seriously incompetent.
Although they have back tracked on the deadline some peoples ST seats have become unavailable like mine so there is still an anomaly in getting a ticket at the moment.
That’s really bad. So potentially some 2025/26 season ticket holders who didn’t have an ST this year might not get a ticket for the match (let alone being able to sit in their ST seat)?
I imagine most of them bought an unreserved seat instead, so they did get a benefit just not the right to buy their new seat as they were promised. And if they got in quick enough their new seat woukd have been available. It just wasn’t reserved.
Ah ok, at least they’ll be in the ground (even if not in the seat they’ve got for next season).

Here we go. I was just thinking , golfies been around along time. Surely if he'd of asked someone would of got him a ticket. Instead he'll have to storm the turnstiles like he did at Cray Valley.

I know and thanks. Just didn't realise there would be amount of panic amongst 7000 ST holders.
Surely to God purchasing sports event tickets online isn't a new science. Why does this have to be so bloody painful?
Must be the same management team who organise the beer and refreshment sales at half time. An old adage about 'piss up' and 'brewery' comes so mind.
And where the hell is that red-trousered oleaginous creep when we need a suitable scapegoat?
.
It is difficult when you buy a crap ticketing systems off the shelf and have no-one understand / maintain it (as covered earlier in this thread). Hopefully we are on the way up now and we can start to put some proper back office staff in place to handle our growth.
Valley Express is still showing availability on all routes. Given the tide is changing quickly for the playoff tickets, would suggest anyone considering booking up does so while they can.
I've found another hidden feature of the ticket page - probably not the first to find it - but I feel like I've reached Level 10 now.
The stadium map is all 'greyed' out, but block NWC is clickable, with 8 seats available at the time of typing, for the 16-20 age range. Anyone with an account, and in that age range, would be able to buy them right now.
All eight tickets for 16-20 year olds are still available for purchase.

I've not read the entirety of this thread given the size of it, so apologies if already discussed. BUT, it begs the question why ST & VG got +4 surely for a game like this when +1 is sufficient. I have my ticket but fear some fans may miss out when others who aren't necessarily Charlton, get a ticket. I also understand the club wanting to max out the ground but surely not at the expense of regular fans who may not be ST / VG.
Should we get to the final, then this methodology needs to be thought through.

This is how it was done last play off wasn;t it?
Absolutely right but this is Charlton ticket office and management, who quite frankly can’t organise a piss up in a brewery.
It's unfortunate that the club issued an "Are you play-off ready?" piece on the OS last week, when it turned out that the club really wasn't. They really should have published something separate on how to get your season-ticket seat, because it got lost amid the detail of the timing, but hindsight's a wonderful thing.
But servers crashing aside, the ticket site really should be designed so you don't need a separate set of instructions to use it when something big comes up - there really wasn't any thought in the user-experience side of it, to use the jargon. If it was better designed, season-ticket holders wouldn't have panicked and bought random seats.
At least the club is taking time to fix things for season-ticket holders, even if that means inconveniencing everyone else by making them wait a bit longer. Hopefully lessons are being learned (and the people who are learning them will still be here next time something like this happens).
Now we all have to remember how bad it was trying to get into the ground in 2019 and remember to turn up early!

oh yes. you have to click ok (not cancel), to proceed then add to basket and be aged 16-20 on the system, then currently 5 x £10 are available.

Exactly.
The Ticket office is not owning the problem they created and have not responded to my last email pointing out their discrepancy.
If they had stated that only ST 2024/25 would be held then I would have said fair enough but they didn't and therefore IMO should make contact with people in this situation and offer a solution.

Adios
I never understand this viewpoint. And it comes up every single time there's a game with high demand.
A lot of ST and VG are buying for 'regular' fans. They're not just randomly purchasing 4 tickets each and given them to 3 people who have never set foot in The Valley before.
I managed to get my season ticket seat this morning, I already purchased one elsewhere in the west stand as it was impossible to get your season ticket seat in the first days of sale.

I think one of the big errors they made was using the sale of playoff tickets as a carrot for buying a new season ticket. It was just another caveat that had to be administered. The system and staff got completely overwhelmed with the various complexities those in charge asked of it and them.

No way to treat loyal fans.
My flight arrives in at 7.40am. I’ve got early check in at the hotel. If I’m not too excited I may have a snoozette. But I’ll be milling about from ridiculously early o’clock.

Yes. It was apparent to me that they had not reserved the seats of new 25/26 season ticket holders, probably because they don’t have the ability to overlay them on the 24/25 stadium map. Therefore 24/25 season-ticket holders were able to buy them, and did, making nonsense of the offer to 25/26 purchasers.
This is straightforward management error rather than a software issue. At best the comms message was seriously misleading.
Staff are clearly paying a hefty price in terms of correcting the inadequate messaging about how to buy your 24/25 season ticket too, creating unnecessary workload. I only worked it out myself when I switched to a laptop. The apparent scale of the problem makes it a serious error.
Airman, I purchased my 25/26 season ticket a few weeks back same stand/block/seat as 24/25 and could not get option to purchase my seat till this morning, I think there were more problems than just this one.

Fault of the club for having a shit IT system.
Fault of some ST holders panic buying other seats.
My fault for waiting patiently & doing what I was told.
