A turgid 180 minutes against Wycombe. Yes they were unpleasant to watch, but exactly the right tactics for them after the 4-0. We would have beaten them easily if it had been a more open match.
We were clearly the better side in the second half BUT the Ramsay double block was the key moment of the game, as if they had scored, I could have seen them parking the bus and scrapping it out for a 1-0.
Grimmer had TC in his pocket over both games, like Ramsay an excellent defender. TC looks tired and bit lacking in confidence.
Gilbert was excellent, creative and good in the press, but his set pieces have gone off the boil a bit.
Excellent No 9 work by Jones to win a ball the keeper bottled, and Godden doing Godden things.
Nathan Jones: "Massive relief. Euphoria. Pride. The big thing is relief - as a manager you work so hard to prepare a team and when it comes off then people think it is ego but it is euphoria and relief." #cafc
Jones: "The owners saw a proper football club tonight. When they came in it just needed bringing together. Who else would you want that chance to fall to?" #cafc
Jones: "I demand from the players. I'm difficult at times to work with. They deserve all the credit. They've been magnificent, they really have." #cafc
I enjoyed Stockport and Orient's efforts rather than these two games. What a wonderful signing Godden has turned out to be. Once again our back three saved us and Wycombe played to catch us out and nick one and almost did with Edwards mistake, Ramsay got him out of jail. Great to see Edwards in front of the West stand at the end with who I assume was his girlfriend, he kept shaking his head in disbelief as to what happened and his first Wembley appearance, marvelous.
Another tough encounter … but we were the best team overall .. missed two great chances through Campbell and Jones but when you got a top finisher like Godden you are always in the game … MOM Coventry he gets better and better every game
The most undeserving game for a pitch invasion ever 😂
Not sure I agree with that but I was personally disappointed with it. Would have liked the opportunity to have serenaded the players and NJ whilst they were bouncing around in front of the Covered End but that's just me probably.
Bloody brilliant! Had to celebrate with a very gentle fist pump as my newborn is asleep on my chest
Haha - same. I didn’t know what to do
As for the game, we definitely weren’t at our best. Too on edge, couldn’t find a rhythm and had Ramsey not made those blocks, I think we would’ve been out.
Great for all the fans and with the run the team have been on, we deserve the day at Wembley.
fingers crossed we have a bit more urgency and fluency Sunday week
Did anyone see Nathan Jones going absolutely mental at someone in the crowd after we scored and someone through the ball back to a Wycombe player too quickly? He's nuts 🤣🤣
Couldn’t care less how rubbish the game was, to see that and share it with my brother after a crap few years was incredible. Up Nathan Jones tricky reds
Matty Godden: "All I could hear for five or 10 minutes after the goal was my song and it was incredible. To do that - in front of all of my family and friends that were here - it is something that is going to stay with me forever." #cafc
Alex Gilbert! Not just provided some creativity and a few sublime passes (forwards!), but he also got stuck in and tackled in the press to good effect. Thought he was brilliant.
First half yes. Second he was not great. Hit every pass and set piece long.

Now for Wembley and turning over Leyton Orient.
