Love this pic. Real memory jogger. Can see the garden we used to hop through.0

Excellent photograph, I bet there are some real gems like these that fans have......
One of the ideas that the supporters trust is working on is to get an online digital archive like this. There are several people on this site that I am sure would be capable to assist in this. Photographs are a unique moment in time that shows so much of the history and local connection that the club has with the community.
Fingers crossed.

I was on a pleasure flight from Biggin Hill, my aim was take take a pic of my house but the Pilot went the wrong side of Shooters Hill and we ended up circling over the Valley.
Found it in a shoebox in the loft, so I thought I'd share it.
I love the idea of a photo archive, I'd be very willing to get involved Ken. I have some photos of the East stand being constructed somewhere.1 -
Mile high club by any chance BDL?0

I'm not even sure how you got your shoe in the door:

Super Valley pic btw.0 -

Sorry to dig up an old topic and this might sound a silly question to most on here but being born in 1992, I'm not 100% sure this is the old Valley. I found this picture online tagged "The Valley 1974" but obviously as the ground looks completely different nowadays I wanted to check.
Appreciate any help. Any other info would be brilliant as well... :-)11 -
The old away end, taken from East Bank0

Definitely the Valley…Before the Jimmy Seed Stand went up…

Now we have to name the players, my guess Arthur Horsfield taking the penalty, top to bottom,?, Richie Bowman, Peter Hunt, Dave Shipperly and Dick Tydman.0

That terracing behind the goal Callum used to go back much higher than that and I believe was sold off to enable the residential development (block of flats) in the 1984/5 photo at the top of the thread to be built. On the player front Shipperley is the one bending over front right foreground and behind him on the other side of the 'D' is Horsfield I reckon. Looks like Bowman and next to him Colin Powell? The penalty taker could be Hales.
Edit: Forgot to mention the raised grass area and goalposts behind the corner flag in the background which was a waste area, as far back as I can remember in the early sixties, used for shooting / penalty practice in training.0 -
Proper old Skool photos, like them. I'd take the old valley over the new one for sure just for the nostalgia value, bet there were a few fights back on the terraces in those days.0

The ref in the picture is Ronald Bryan from Worksop, my Mother-in-law's uncle, by marriage.2
-
If it was 1974 could the penalty taker be the late great Bobby Curtis. That photo was taken from roughly where I used to stand on the east terrace. Good memories.0

I remember the highlight [as a kid]in those days was a kick about at half time on that grass bank.1

So, what we got so far:
Match at The Valley,
In, or around, 1974,
Bobby Curtis penalty,
players (we think) are Ship, King Arthur, Bowman & Hunt,
Ref was Ronald Bryan from Worksop (you sure #Riviera ?).
Will check Mr Cameron's Home and Away book.0 -
The large shed on the right above the crowd was the supporters club hut.0

Away team in blue, try Oldham 4-1 home win 26/3/74 as a long shot.Miserableoldgit said:So, what we got so far:

Long shot? It's a pen, only 12 yds.RedChaser said:

No Curtis (Penfold & Tumbridge full-backs),
Ref was TW Dawes from Norwich.
