You're right and it must have been the same game as the oft quoted assault on Matt Tees, which was not unusual if I remember. In the good ol days, it was de rigueur for defenders to assault forwards in this manner. I'm amazed so many 'strikers' survived the ordeals and have lived to a ripe old age.. As you say Coventry was one of the longest serving top division clubs and suddenly they nosedived. First club to have an all seater stadium, and the first professional club to employ the exteremely formidable George Curtis. And of course all the success was engendered by the legend who is Jimmy Hill.masicat said:

Way, way too many to name but from the past Jimmy Greaves the best goal taker this country has ever produced, Bobby Moore for all sorts of reasons and George Best who is still the best all round player I have watched on a British football pitch (live that is).
From today Messi because he has everything and Vincent Kompany a great professional, captain and seems like a really good guys as well.0 -

I have no idea why this game sticks in my memory. We were 2-0 down, I think, Cliff Myers in-off a post made it 2-1. I am trying to remember some of the other Coventry players - Gibson and Machin come to mind - small tigerish midfielders. Ronnie Rees on the wing, Bobby Gould up front.....I'll remember more if I try hard - can't remember whether Dietmar Bruck was in that side or not.masicat said:
