    I doubt if Cort and Hughes have got better terms than before or a signing-on fee, because of their ages, so they are not going to be adding to the budget.

    We know the budget has been reduced. I'm not talking about adding to the budget, but it is still spend. It is commiting money

    It's also a choice against signing other, more expensive players. But in the end whichever you do you still need a squad. I'm not expressing a view about these players, because i think they are both good people to have around, but personally I can't see giving new contracts to current pros at the end of their career as "significant spend" and I doubt if Dervite fits that description either.

    Brownie was on radio London yesterday and sounded good, as always. Praised Chris Powell for his achievements in getting us promoted and then up to 9th without spending money.

    Just looked up Mark DeBolla, he used to score some great goals for Gravesend. Didn't realise he's been without a club for 5 years.

    I've only been to a few 'Fleet matches, but one of the funniest things I've seen at football was at a fixture against Dartford. There was some mouthing off behind the goal and some guy took a running charge from 25 yards and floored someone like the proverbial sack of potatoes, he just plunged beneath the ad boards.
