    Anyone seen Filth yet? Nearly went on my own last Weds but couldn't bring myself to visit the cinema alone! Now going to go next week as have obtained a viewing partner.

    I saw this too on Sky last week...........very good film. Also saw Argo the other night................also very good but I think it got all the Oscars because its a "Yank" film in which the good 'ole US of A comes out on top & I can imagine a lots of Americans whopping it up when watching it.

    Saw Prisoner last week..............another decent film although at times I wasn't sure which direction it was going.

    Is this an old film as I have a friend that has a whole shelf of VHS tapes with Filth written on the label!

    Just some back from the cinema where we went to see Turbo. Clearly it's a kids film but it was good and fun.

    My 9 year old loved it.

    Went to see Filth tonight. McAvoy is amazing in it. If it were less controversial he'd definitely be winning awards for it.

    Any fans of the book, be warned. It is based on the book but the plot twists away from the book at points so don't expect a direct translation.

    To be honest the book is pretty depraved, so there were going to be bits missed out.

    A must see for any Irvine Welsh fans.

    Saw Machete Kills last night, if you've seen the first one then you know exactly what to expect. If not, well it essentially about two hours of hot girls and Danny Trejo killing lots of people in really ridiculously absurdly over the top ways. It's a fine line between stupid and genius, as a wise man once said, and M.K. hops over the line both ways more than once.

    I think he's referring to the one starring James McAvoy which has been released recently.

    Went to see Captain Phillips yesterday. Tom Hanks. This was a very good movie. In fact one of the best I've seen for a long while. Tom Hanks' performance must be Oscar worthy. Based on a true story about the Somali pirates highjacking a US cargo ship off the coast of Somalia in 2009. Probably some poetic license taken with the plot but a terrific thriller. Would highly recommend this one.

    Saw a preview of Philomena today the new film starring Steve Coogan and Judi Dench which is on general release in a couple of weeks time.It is the story of an elderly Irish woman who seeks out her son who she was forced to give away for adoption by Nuns 50 years earlier.Coogan also co wrote the script and adds humour to what is a very moving tale. In all it is an excellent film which I would recommend.

    Went to see Filth at the weekend. Thought it was great. Can't remember if I read the book years ago, as I had a vague memory of the story, but it was still really good. Even though McAvoy's character is a horrid man. I still wanted him to be the 'hero'.

    Filth for me was one of the most disappointing cinema experiences in a long while. Hedonistic and corrupt Scottish copper on the slide to mental ill-health and paranoia. What's new there?

    The most interesting aspect for me was trying to date it. The book on which it's based is from the late 80s. Some of the early (racist) 'humour' in the dialogue is from the 70s, and dress code is from the 70/80s. Only when i saw some of todays cars in one later scene did I realise this was supposed to be contemporary. The twists such as there are, are weak. It's all so predictable that the 'drama' is non existent. The lead characters head changes into an animal or monster at times to reflect his mental state, accompanied by a shrill noise- this was just irritating. Laughed nil times. In fact barely anyone in the cinema laughed throughout.

    Waste of money and effort. If this had gone straight to television at least it wouldn't have cost a packet to see and I could have turned over.

    Ender's Game. If you like watching kids play video games, and you're still a fan of Harrison Ford, and you don't care too much for plot logic and you really want a twisted message for kids (genocide is ok, really) then you will love this movie.

    I sense some some sarcasm, but it does sound like the kind of film I'd like, and I'm certain that my 9 year old son would like it.

    Saw Admission on the plane.....bit of fluff to waste away 90 mins, but nothing more...I dont expect this will even reach the cinema's

    Went to see Gravity last night. Disappointing. Great special effects but a weak storyline and in the end pure Hollywood. It's getting rave reviews as well which I just don't understand.
