yes - was a really good book, but then I am a fan of all his stuff to begin with....

  • Saw Philomena last Friday. Excellent film with terrific performances by Judi Dench & Steve Coogan. Definitely recommended by me. Hoping to see Gravity in the coming week.
  • Parkland

Different - not quite as good as JFK although this doesn't drag on as much .
  • ^^^^ cheers Beds .. soon be inundated with the half century tributes !
  • Thor 2 was good in IMAX 3d I thought.
  • Gravity - fabulous movie; make sure you see it in 3D - this is what 3D was invesnted for. Stunning.
  • Thor 2 last night, pretty good if you liked the first one...

Happy to do a rating but we need a measure or a standard...such as 1=Stinker 5=Average 10= Outstanding

Thor would get a 6 on this rating scale....I liked it for what it was....a bit of escapism.

  • Watched the new Big Star documentary the other night - I love a deep music documentary & this was an interesting & sad tale of a band before it's time....
  • Gravity is worth the hype, and for once the 3D is not only beneficial, its essential. The sensation of space etc is worth the extra money for sure.
  • I quite fancy the look of that new Cameron Diaz and Brad Pitt film. Probably shit, but looks like mindless fun.

It's been so badly publicised I didn't even know Pitt was in it!

Javier bardem looks like he is playing a good character again ...rest looks rubbish though
  • The Counselor? Saw it on Monday. Good film, but very violent. Javier Badem is very good and Cameron Diaz has an 'interesting' scene with a Ferrari. 4.5/6
  • Muhammad Ali's Greatest Fight

A really interesting look at Ali's crusade against fighting for the U.S in the VietNam war.
Some great veteran actors on display.

If you want some good mindless fun check out Whitehouse Down. Probably not at the Cinema anymore though.

I am sure I am in the minority but I didn't like it. Thought it was boring.
  • Prisoners

A thought provoking , sometimes grim thriller but none the less , utterly brilliant.

Yeah I saw Prisoners a month or so ago. One of the best films I've seen for a long time.

Going to see Don Jon in the next couple of days. An hour or two of looking at Scarlett Johansson, gotta be an alright film.
  • I watched Prisoners last night. Epic film. Best I've seen in years.
  • Went to see Gravity last night. Persuaded the wife based on 5 star review in the Guardian, perhaps should have checked on here first. Agree with NYA and Rob, visually stunning, but weak screenplay, I give it 7
  • Going to see Gravity later on. Looking forward to it.
  • I have been impressed with all the reviews of Gravity but 3D screenings make me feel ill...

Going to see Captain Phillips tomorrow instead.

But taking my sea sickness pill first.
  • Has anyone seen the Wikileaks film yet? Not made it out here yet, and may not at all, but the topic is up my street

The one with Cumberbatch as Assange? I was also interested but saw news on TV the other day that it was a flop.
Yes that's the one...anyone else seen or heard about it?

Saw and enjoyed it as cumberbatch was so good ...Assange is such an arrogant tosser. Film 7/10
  • A Common Man

    Hilariously bad.

One of the worst films i have ever seen. Ben Kingsley is shocking.
