My point was that beggars can't be choosers, and we know that the quality of some of those lined up to take over was in the "dubious" category, to say the least.
Who's to say the next lot, if there is a next lot, will be any better? Football has gone beyond clubs being owned by the local lad, brought up on the terrace, making good and buying his club. Mores the pity

I think you will find that Martin Prothero is at 75% of games home and away but he doesn't own equity...the thing is that he is the director with operational responsibility for both playing and non-playing sides of the club0

Of course you are right, although I just wanted to mention that Swansea is in fact the old model. The 'consortium of local businessmen' that found most of the money were/are in large part exactly the type you mentioned. I went to visit them and have written it all up for the Trust news/website. It really was like stepping back in time, in a good way. The Supporters Director, Huw Cooze, said to me more than once "we are all working class people", and I understood that this applies not just to the Trust guys but a couple of the directors too. But that is Swansea as a place for you. We are in London. It looks like we have to be realistic, we can't just 'do a Swansea'. More's the pity

I think that's wrong. How can he have any feel for the strength or otherwise of our squad and empathy with the manager and fans on the match day experience. As I understand it he doesn't attend matches or set foot in the place much at any time. That as far as I am concerned means he cares sod all about Charlton Athletic, it's fans, manager and players other than a £ sign. It's not what I want in an owner.
