Agree with SHG. Sordell should play in absence of KMG. He is given a chance if he does not take it then RTS back to Bolton.

Was Sordell a Powell signing or a TJ one?

That question won't be answered until it's confirmed that he's a good/bad accusition..........................

Admittedly he has been poor and his performances have perhaps shown why Freedman was happy for him to leave, even when Bolton are not blessed upfront.

However Sordell had a very decent record at Watford and has played for the u21's/Olympic side so really don't think we can write him off, especially as we need all the strikers we can get.

Sordell scored a good goal at Huddersfield in the cup and maybe just needs a league goal to kick start his CAFC career. After all he has only made 3 starts, one was two days after signing.

Many a true word said in jest!

  • Sordells cameo was one of the bright spots of a dismal afternoon.
Showed some creativity and a nice touch.
The problem all our strikers face is a lack of creativity in midfield.
  • One of our better players yesterday and put a good ball through to Church who shot when he should have passed to Stephens.

    Sordell, this weeks scape-goat. LOL

To me it's all about the body language which on inspection was hardly positive.

The young man is in danger of imploding at a time of FPP when many experienced pros are still scrambling around for a contract. If he is unable to knuckle down and be a team player here after being moved on by the Trotters, he will struggle to get a contract in Div 2 particularly if (rightly or wrongly) he attaches to himself a reputation of not buying into the concept of 'team'.

A great example of a youngster who desperately requires the attention of a quality 'mentor'.

    Surely it's worth giving sordell a chance ? He's a young international?
  • I wouldn't mind giving him a proper chance. but I have seen nothing in him to suggest that he would be any good.

My brother made a good point a player like Sordell needs a run of games and he will score but we cant afford to carry him for 3/4 games untill he finds his form.

I thin the fact Powell brought Pigott on ahead of Sordell tells you he is not impressed.

Why doesn't Powell send him back to Bolton then? I just don't understand why he's here ?
  • We couldn't score in a brothel. I have seen nothing in Sordell that fills me with confidence but why not. How much worse can our attack get.

Powell may as well fuck him back off to Bolton. The bloke hasn't been given a chance, today was the ultimate piss take bringing on Piggott ahead of him. How is he ever going to score when all he gets is 2 mins at a time.

BECAUSE WE ARE COMMITTED TO HAVING HIM UNTIL JANUARY.

Like most of our recent loans I doubt he wants to be here, so I am sure bth he and CP have booked his cab back up to Bolton from Jan 1

even if we could better not send him back until after we play at Bolton as he would be bound to score against us

I think Chris Powell is probably frustrated by the clause that Bolton snuck into the loan agreement that Sordell doesn't actually have to run.

You are right and wrong, he is on a season long loan but there is a two way call back in January

From what I've seen I'm not entirely sure what he can offer us, then again he has played at England u21 level. Maybe our style of play does not suit him?

I really think he can score a few for us. The only times he's had decent game time has been with Church, Kermorgant I think would be a lot happier alongside him too. Just because a player doesn't waste energy chasing every lost cause it it doesn't mean he's lazy.

People are writing him off without him having had a chance, and you've also got to remember the midfield behind him. It's poor at the moment but it was especially dire when he was given more than 5 minutes at a time.

I agree, I watch him closely whenever he has a chance to get on the field and I have not seen a problem with his attitude.
  • Not sure why everyone is so hung up on Sordell - he's hardly going to shine if we play hoofball or he keeps getting 5 minutes to play.
  • The loan is for the season, Bolton have a recall option in Jan

He was ahead of Church in the pecking order until he lost his place by not scoring and refusing to run. He has been given a chance and he blew it. This team's never going to be full of goals but it needs work rate to challenge and he just doesn't want to put it in

He doesn't refuse to run, that's complete bollocks. He makes runs and we elect to punt it to Yann instead, who flicks it on to absolutely no-one because sordell has already made his run beforehand. All we ever do is punt it up to Yann, and I think we played better football without him. Sordell needs a run in the team, but he's not getting it so we may as well seems him back.

Bent never ran around like a headless chicken a la Church did he? Neither did BWP and they have been our best goalscorers in the past decade
