yes we do, we get "training compensation". What that training compensation is, I guess, is up to creative accounting.ShootersHillGuru said:No compo if he goes abroad.

I'm not arguing against this, but can someone explain why we got nothing when Darren went to Motherwell (I think, if not then another team north of the border)?kentaddick said:

Anyone else see the Late Kick Off bit this week with John Bostock interviewed. Article on it here http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26715651
Basically says he left Palace too young.
While I can't see Diego staying if we go down, I'd like to think that regular first team football is something he would relish, and there are plenty of examples of talented young players who never get it once they sign for a Sky team. I hope he does, anyway. Him and Jordan Cousins have been the brightest part of this season.1 -
Cos Motherwell are a foreign team... Scotland might be part of Britain but its a seperate FA etc...AddicksAddict said:

Yes, I know they are a foreign team, but the post I quoted said we get 'training compensation' if he goes abroad. So, is Scotland 'foreign' but not 'abroad'?ForeverAddickted said:

If he's been offered an improved contract and won't take it, start fining him for muddy boots, being late absolutely anything we can to rekindle the £70.00 per week he is paid.
If he's been offered a worse deal... bloody hell we're in the shit.1 -
Was this the barrel they (premier league) put us (FL) over and well and truly shafted us, saying if we didn't accept, the money that filters down would be considerably cut?LargeAddick said:
doesn't go to a tribunal any more though. payments have already been set out and agreed by all FL Clubs with the PL, a decision which CAFC voted against by the way.

Indeed it was. There was little real choice. The EPPP has some good points regarding youth development and contact hours but it makes producing talent outside the PL pretty pointless. Sadly the self-serving bullies of the Premier League hold all the aces.tangoflash said:

It is akin to driving past a beggar in your Bentley and nicking his money! The Premier League is an immoral self serving set up. The filters down are their scraps from the table - far to low but they don't care about football- just themselves. And they actually use the scraps as a threat!
The league has been in place long enough now that we should be seeing England at the top of the world, like Germany and Spain with all the investment that should have gone on at grass roots level.
The only way you can do something about this out of control monster is through an act of Parliament (which I can't see happening) as it is too powerful to be stopped.
The other unlikely alternative is that somebody needs to propose a new structure for the betterment of the game and all fans need to sign up to it. But to be honest, the fans have lost most if not all of the power they once might have had. It is very sad and should make everybody angry.1 - Sponsored links:

I know that sounds like a factious comment but with the overheads the Premier League teams have saddled themselves with they can't afford to share their money with the lower divisions. It is the same as a bloke that has a big car loan and larger than average servicing costs for his Bentley.
Clearly the answer is that he shouldn't have bought the Bentley in the first place, but now that he has it, and it isn't worth anywhere near what he paid for it, the loan repayments are just a liability. If he doesn't take the money from the beggar he is likely to lose his car, and potentially his house too!1 -
I guess he's not signing a new deal then???0

Question for people after his performances since coming in to replace Dale Stephens... Could he be a serious contender for Player of the Year after another display like today?0

would he have payed enough games? There is a criteria to meet. Fanny?0

And maybe a more pertinent question. Why wasnt he playing before? Financial reasons?1

In the top 2 by far.The Red Robin said:

Yes, I've seen the research. You can buy a Bentley, put petrol in it, have it taxed, insured and serviced for almost exactly the same amount of money as it costs to bring up a child! And some people choose to have more than one of those! I know which I'd choose. Apart from anything else the Bentley will give you more pleasure, and will probably still be as sweet as a nut and pampering you when it's 18 years old! And it won't buy you some crap aftershave on Fathers' Day.kings hill addick said:

The Bentley will also carry on your genetic material and be the closest you'll ever come to immortality.cafcfan said:

Really naffs me off that we're going to lose him - be interesting to see how far he can go.
His composure on the ball is something to behold - seems to have more time than any other players in the team.1 -

As good as our academy is for producing midfielders (Parker, Poyet, Shelvey, others) can we please create a few decent strikers at some point.0

No need to duck for cover. Our academy has produced the 4th (I think) most capped England forward of the millenniumseriously_red said:Lisbie! Defoe (ducks for cover)
Our problem is keeping players, not producing them
