I'm sad in the sense that I think back to the buzz in August and the passion BP showed.
I blame Rollie more. He does not and will not support the Head Coach with serious funds and allowing him to pick home grown talent of Championship quality; whoever comes in faces the same and inevitably the same fate. Rollie plays with his toys.
I think Bob was unlucky. When le Coq went that was it really.

Shocking decision. A rough run lately but he is tactically aware and has improved the standard of football enormously. Why would another network unknown do any better?

Bloody hell you watching the same team as me for the last 3 months ?
The football has been a lot better than it was under Powell, other than the Blackburn cup game and for the first half yesterday
No it hasn't. Peeters has produced the worst football in the last 20 years.

Peeters the latest to suffer from starting too well. Winless in 9, sure, but were Charlton expecting better than 14th before season's start?"

14th now but heading towards the bottom three. The complete lack of competitiveness in the first half yesterday confirmed that something was seriously wrong.

I'm not worried if the new manager is unknown or whether he's English or not. Not many people had heard of Lennie Lawrence or Jose Riga but they turned out ok.

I actually couldn't care less. At least a new manager will reset the players morale hopefully.

Or they might think the people upstairs running our great club haven't got a clue.

I reckon Tony Watt knew what he was getting himself into when he signed for Standard tbh. He's just as used to the circus as we are.

Never felt as disinterested in Charlton as this season. Look for the result on a saturday and that's about it. This takes the biscuit, football and Charlton are a mess

I can only assume you didn't attend the Parkinson / Powell league 1 season, or tail end of Pardew's tenure

Has Henry been on with his 'bumpy ride'?

Bumpy ride AUN? We've just found ourselves with four flat tyres.

Kneejerk ? Not really is it ? Exactly the same run as Stuart Pearce at Forest. If Pearce goes will that be kneejerk ?

4 points from 8 games & 5 of those games against poor sides.

You might be right it shows intent but I have doubts he really knows anything about football. If he did he would have kept Riga. Bob really was a bit if a gamble. I just don't think he'll employ someone proven, he thinks he can outsmart everyone. Riga paid off last year should have stuck with him.

I'm well pleased. Don't get the anti Roland sentiment.
  • As I said yesterday there are many issues in the dressing room. There will be a few sighs of relief amongst the senior players in particular.

However, Peeters really was not given an adequate squad in terms of depth. Whilst he made some odd selection choices his hands were in part loosely tied and he had to make do.

His inexperience in managing at this level was obvious, particularly in his man management.

    I wish him no ill.

Don't like this football club at the moment.

At one point, we were so close to getting our club back and it felt so good. Not so much now.
  • With our wage bill, you'd expect us to finish about 18th (everything else being equal) and yet we are 14th and this is the lowest position we have held all season. Throw in the long injury list and the excessive reliance on inexperienced kids (who surely aren't ready eg Fox, Pope) and he has done even better.

One senses that if we had reached 31 points in a 'linear' fashion then nobody would be screaming for his head - instead by getting 21 points from those first 12 unbeaten games, expectations were unrealistically ratcheted upwards (our goals for at that stage of just 14 should have warned otherwise). The subsequent 10 points from 13 games has felt like a collapse when it is just simple reversion to the mean.

We also sacked a Devolpment coach and a performance analyst. I suppose RD feels we are lacking at other places beside Manager

    Intent for what?

I've always been a pro RD man and think so far hes in credit on the way our clubs gone, but Peeters should have been backed with getting a stronger squad assembled and given till the end of the season. RD wanted BP to start with, he should have stuck by him when the going got tough.

The anti-Roland sentiment is because he clearly hasn't got a clue. Peeters was his appointment.

Or they are part of the problem in the dressing room.

I agree with the decision. Changing managers regularly of course isn't good. However if you are stuck with a terrible one then you have to get rid. There's no way he was moving us forward.

First thought was wow but actually it's not surprising at all.

He started well but yesterday it got to the point where I was struggling to see how we'd score a goal, keep a clean sheet and actually win a game.

He needed a bigger squad (and whoever replaced him also will) but I expect there's probably some truth in the rumours of fall outs, unhappy players etc. He tried to push out Wilson and Church before we even replaced them by not rarely using them. There's the argument they're League 1 players but at times we had worse players on the bench in their place. Similar situation with Morrison though we had 2 ahead I him and signed a replacement when he went.

If we're going to have a small budget maybe we shouldn't be trying to play patient passing football. But then under Powell and Parky we grinded out results playing a more direct game and that also wasn't seen as good enough. Riga perhaps found a balance but we had a few bad defeats along the way. A different situation under him as we were playing twice a week every week and he did seem to target the "easier" and must win games.

No doubt it'll be another Belgian or Belgian league manager that gets the job.
