If he could use his right foot at all, he'd be a premier league player. Not a huge criticism; I think he's fantastic for us

Because of the shocking state of the pitch, Johann for the first time decided to use the leg he just uses to keep him upright and make a fantastic pass.

If Gud's right foot was as good as his left he would be playing for a Top half Prem team.

Roland needs to start sorting out a new contract now. IMHO deserves a pay rise.

    That would be my concern

I doubt it. Why would he want to go to Standard? He's got links with England, and RD can't move him if he doesn't want to go.

Hopefully he'll sign a contract extension, otherwise my concern is that as he only signed a 2 year contract, do we keep him until summer 2016 and risk losing him for nothing or cash in on him now?

I don't think he will be at Standard but he won't be here by 1/9/15

Newly promoted team or a team like Hull/WBA will take him

I think he needs another year or two on the championship to work on developing all areas of his game before moving to the prem....

There are a lot of very average players in the Premier League, regardless of what Sky Sports try and tell everyone. Having someone who can hit the target from distance or free kicks near enough every time is worth its weight in gold.

TBH, if JBG is the money earner for us this summer then it might not be a bad thing . The times i've seen him play, more often than not he disappears during the game and i have to check to see if he is still on the pitch.
If we get 5 mil for him and thats Rolands money that he wants then that might not be a bad thing.

1st Iceland goal scored by JBG.

    Gudjohnsen scored the first goal.
  • Just have to hope that RD wants to build a team around the quality players we have like JBG. Such a shame if he's gone so quickly. I honestly believe a new contract and another season or two with us could see his value soar. Come on Roland. You know you want to.

He did have some poor games during the bad run where those comments would be fair but he's also had some crackers since. He looks so much more comfortable no with the formation and players we have.

I do think we'll extend his contract or sell. Can't see RD letting his contract run down.

    Hahahahahahahahahahahaha

    Oh wait, you're serious?

Did you only go to games in November and December then? Because everyone in the team went missing then, other than that he is one of our most influential players, and every winger I have ever seen drifts in ams out of games, even Hazard, Robben, Bale, Neymar, Sanchez and Reus

He's our best player... if we seriously want to challenge we have to keep him

So because of that one game you would not care if he was sold.

IMO he will be sold in the summer but I would do anything to keep him

Him, Bulot, Watt and Igor are an incredible front 4 for this division

Are you basing your opinion on one game then?

He came to us for free and signed a two year deal. So will he agree to a big money move when he's a free agent again in 15 months?

We have five players now who would each command a decent fee - which is five more than last summer! Let's see what the squad looks like in August for then we can tell the ambition behind the club. Ideally we can take our top players with us on the journey.
  • The bottom line is that players like him, Watt, Diarra, Bulot, Johnson, Gomez, Vetokele are the players we need to take us on to the next level. We need to build around them not lose them unless it's very good money and then invest again. Any real departure from this means mid table mediocrity at best.

If RD thinks that selling £5 million pounds worth of talent every year to achieve his break even can be done without jeopardising our league status then it will be a painful lesson.

I expect we will sell one or two and gamble that the replacements come good. I'll be disappointed if we don't try to build on the base of the decent players we currently have. Disappointed but not surprised.

He's a match winning. And they're both rare, and expensive!

I heard before we started our positive run that the club wanted to engage in contract extension talks, but he wanted to see how ambitious we were before signing, so it may well be summer before the situation is resolved.
