with both Derby & Forest losing at home, perhaps the single point we picked up at both venues was not as good as first thought and we are only a mid table team

only time will tell, but if we are really looking to push on another 2 or 3 bodies are needed before 6pm Tuesday.

Just back to the car. Got what we deserved. Nothing. Poor show. Both teams crap first half, not much better second half. Wolves missed two absolute sitters so could have been much worse.

Missed the first 10mins as well.

Losing Makienok left us powderpuff upfront. Igor was nowhere near ready to play 75mins.

    Hugely disappointing all round.

Kashi getting booked so early really affected him as well.

Having said all of that if Begditch gets his head up and squares it to Igor at 1-0 it could have been game over.

As for Henry, wouldn't pay 100k let alone 500k on that showing.

You must be taking the piss their Clem re Henry.
Why? Solly had him under control for the majority of the game. His final ball was poor. Several Wolves fans on the walk back to the car bemoaning the fact that we probably wouldn't want him anymore.

    Assume you were there?

No I wasn't there and wasn't having a dig at you I was just going by what was said on R5L and the impression that was given on the match thread...glad to hear that Solly had a good game, maybe we will sign Pennent now.

A game too far for us today. Wouldve snapped your hands off for 8 points and only 1 defeat at the beginning of August looking at our 1st 5 fixtures. Well done to Guy and the team, get the injuries cleared up in the next couple of weeks, maybe a couple of new players in before deadline and should be raring to go vs Rotherham

On a bright side: with a win I think RD's pocket would have remained closed. Assuming he watched the game, maybe he'll get convinced buying someone now. Presumably he'll be eager to know how serious Simon's injury is.

miracle start to the season only spoilt by the fact palace are so farking good but more than made up for by the fact the scum are so farking shit

Two easier (hopefully) games to come at home, after a two week rest, where hopefully the magic man TWWW can recover enough to be starting

    On the train home.

We played really well in the half-hour either side of half-time, in which we dominated midfield, scored one and came close to scoring a second. but we lacked the punch up front to capitalise on some good build-up play. Playing Igor up front as the lone striker has never worked. There was no hold up play and no link up play with the midfield, with JBG the main threat operating in the space between the Wolves B4 & midfield. An injury to Dicko which caused a delay of 5 minutes came at the right time for Kenny Jackett, who switched Henry from the left to the right, his natural side, and introduced La Fondre, who got the winner. That was the turning point in a game we could easily have won.

The injuries up front have taken their toll, I imagine Guy was hoping to give Igor a little run for the last 15 minutes as he's clearly a long way from match fitness.

As for Wolves, well any team can beat any team in this division, etc Hull and QPR both went above us today as well...
  • Thanks tutt tutt for the comment from someone who actually went.

Sounds like it went against us today. It won't be the last time this season, and we won't be the only team to suffer it.

By way of comparison, both sides had a striker taken off for injury.

Our substitution nullified a large part of our counter attacking play while Wolves were forced into bringing Ojo into the match somewhat earlier than anticipated and that gave the young winger enough time to turn the game on it's head.
  • Not having much luck with injuries are we.

Still a better start than anyone on here was expecting. Re group and go again. Hope Watt and Big Mak are back after the break. Igor not ready and won't be for a few weeks yet.

GL: We deserved at least a point

Sorry Guy but you deserve what you get and get what you deserve, 0 points today and sometimes that's a good thing, as we can note see we need 3 more players and something done about the fitness of our players

    On the way home
Two mediocre teams, 1st half was poor after Mak went off. 2nd half a lot better but beaten by a scrappy goal. We just seemed too lightweight and no way a top six team

Shame to lose the unbeaten start but it's still a great start. On to the next one.

We had a really good opportunity just after our goal, when Bergdich failed to capitalise on a good position. The Wolves crowd were just starting to get onto their team, with some booing from the South Bank. Then the injury to Dicko, which broke up the flow of our play and allowed them to settle. At that point, Cousins & Kashi were running midfield, Solly had Henry in his pocket and was joining in the play on the right. JBG was probing in midfield, and the Centre Backs were playing out from the back. we lost the initiative after the equaliser and struggled to get out with no hold up play in the front line. It was at that point we needed TWWW or Big Mak.

Four strikers not at match fitness. I'm surprised we almost got a point!

Once Watt, Reza, Mak and Igor are all FULLY fit and ready we'll get back on top and start winning these sorts of away games.

Just one of Watt or Mak could've been the difference this afternoon.

    From the OS
There are a couple of days left of the transfer window. Do you envisage any ins and outs at Charlton?

Ok cheers but that's a vague response to my mind and he hasn't definitely said no though has he?

Of course you can deserve something different to the final score.

There will also be games when we are battered and completely dominated, but against the run of play nick a fluky winner from a deflection. In that situation, we wouldn't have deserved the win

If so, that's the same RD as last year. Katrien stated a couple of week ago ( in a Flemish newspaper) that RD always claims that he spends enough on players. Passion really isn't that guy's middle name ...

One way to look at it is thst two late goals in the last two games resulted in us ending up with three points rather than two.

There was a great moment in the second half when Solly went past Henry as if he wasn't there. Other than the goal, best moment of the game.

    Still a decent start.

    Two midtable teams.

Wolves fans think we deserved a point. I agree with them.

Wolves fans think Henry was their MOTM. I don't agree.

    Squad very shallow.

Well, the radio commentary from Finchy pretty much fitted with @Tutt-Tutt s analysis. So I'm not at all despondent. Jeez if you'd told me in July that at this stage our only defeat would be a single goal at Wolves in a game we more than matched them; well.I wouldn't just have bitten your arm off, I'd have recycled it in a Czech sausage.

I fear RD has some formula. He gives the head coaches 75% of what they ask for. Sweating the assets and all that. So there may not be any more activity before the window. But compared to where we were in May.. worrying about losing JBG and Jordan as well as Joe...and on top of that Chris Solly sounding like he's back to his best.. and Bauer, Kashi and Simon potential legends in the making...we will win more than we lose, so that's great, and lets see where it goes after that.
