Andy's wife has read through all of your posts after I rang her this morning. I think you can guess how these heartfelt messages have made her feel. She had never read any before and didn't even know his signature was Bryan_Kinsie so seeing all these posters paying their respects has been quite lovely for her.
I was with Andy at the Posh night game he spoke of in the VOTV article. In fact i drove him there and remember the journey home in the thickest fog i've ever known. We went back up the A1 at around 30mph, which took us hours. I can recall how Andy gushed about their terrace and spoke of it on numerous occasions since. We did the usual pub visit as was customary. He was a football fans legend in my eyes that I looked up to with his superior knowledge and experience (nothing to do with me being a short arse) as he had followed the Addicks to 70 something different grounds, I can't remember exact amount but hoping others will know.
Andy's wife has agreed to forward a pic of Andy and I will post as soon as I get them through.
Thanks to everyone that makes this site so meaningful (and controversial) ;-)
Here's the pic Andy's wife happily supplied. It means a lot to her and us as it's the only one she has of them in his club shirt.
She wrote: "I'm struggling to find a recent photo of Andy in a Charlton shirt but I have found this one which was taken at Bradford about 14 years ago. It was 0-0 and I remember that Bradford went down from the Premiership that season. We've never seen the guys who are photobombing behind us so it'll be interesting to see if anyone comes forward."
So does anyone recognise the gatecrashers? I was at that game with my dad too. Small world!
Just had a look through the Inbox feature on here. Even split, it appears, between me being an idiot and someone being unusually friendly. Andy was an example of that. Offered a lift to the Carlisle promotion match. I didn't take it (train instead) but always felt grateful for the offer. Sad news, best wishes to his wife and family.
