A proportionate protest - Charlton v Ipswich *Stand Up For The 2%*

They definately happened, and others, but the NS seem keen to find the worst / best at the moment depending on what you think.cabbles said:I'd say twitter is the social media channel I'm on the least, and I only just checked it again since Saturday morning. Disappointing to see this from the news shopper. I couldn't go on sat nor was I watching it, but these chants work against in my opinion. I don't want RD at our club anymore. The 2 years have shown me that I think his model is flawed. I'm fine with 'Roland out' 'we want our Charlton back' etc, but this doesn't really strike me as the right sort of chant.
I understand people are passionate, collectives feel the safety in numbers sort of thing and might join in, heat of the moment. But do we really need these type of chants? Especially as these are probably the media pick up on

It is a football match it will never be a friendly nice song! Sorry but it is the nature of being angry and mob mentality, someone starts it and it resinates with others so it spreads.Dansk_Red said:Believe me that chanting was very muted, and only sung after we were 3 goals down, it had nothing to do with the SIO campaign. Highlighted by a newspaper siding with KM/RD.

As the next initiative is devised it may be useful for those involved to see the results of the CAST survey......weighted answers + other comments.........to help target and address the largest areas of concern for the Trust members and perhaps others fans too. It would be good to unite actions and fan elements as much as possible.
I hope/wonder if that has happened or will happen?
CAST used to publish survey results but for some reason(s) haven't done so lately?0 -

As one of the recently converted, can I ask what you would say/do to persuade others to come over and join us ?0 -
I bump into an employee of the club from time to time. Quite low down the food chain, but works with the players sometimes. We were talking about how to move things forward today and I mentioned the protest on Saturday.
His reply, 'Yes, but that was only 2% of the fans.'

On Saturday there were a couple of people filming the handing out of the posters and people taking them up! And I assume they filmed the pretest itself. Have these been seen? Or can we see them!0

Expect a few people less at The Valley for the Leeds game, they'll be banned!cantersaddick said:On Saturday there were a couple of people filming the handing out of the posters and people taking them up! And I assume they filmed the pretest itself. Have these been seen? Or can we see them!

If that were the case there would be a very serious situation occurring, so I very much doubt it. I think our representatives should ask why these people were being filmed tho0

i bet a few people get letters banning them. it is our CEO's Style!0

Believe it was being filmed for this new youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/ballstreetElfsborgAddick said:cantersaddick said:On Saturday there were a couple of people filming the handing out of the posters and people taking them up! Surely any banning orders as things get uglier, will be rescinded by the new owners if they are for protests?0

McCarthy also has nous. in the post match interview he mentioned that they set up to nullify Charlton's new diamond shape. Seemed pretty effective to me. We seem to have built out the craft and experience required in the Championship. Roland knows best though (so he thinks).InspectorSands said:
I legged it five minutes before the end of the match so I could jump on a train to Dulwich Hamlet.MuttleyCAFC said:It was interesting that we were playing Ipswich. They were clearly their manager’s team. That is a team built around what the manager feels are the attributes needed to do well in the division. Now, I’m not saying I am a fan of McCarthy, but he is no mug, and he believes a physical, athletic presence is needed through the team. 8 of their players looked like the same bloke FFS. It was certainly too much for us on Saturday. Other managers will have different plans and I would prefer a more footballing approach, but my point is a Charlton manager can never plan as he has to make the most out of what he is given and he doesn’t get long enough either.
On the way, I got chatting to an Ipswich fan - works for the club, too. We were chatting about McCarthy, and I said how he'd always been a friend of Charlton (still living in Bromley and all that).
Apparently McCarthy's influence runs through all levels of Ipswich - when he took over, he got all the club staff together with the players, and made it very clear to his squad that these people's jobs depended on their attitudes and performances.
McCarthy's football is clearly designed to be more effective than artistic, but it works. And he has the power to make it work. How we could do with a Mick McCarthy at Charlton - but under the current regime, are more likely to get a powerless Mickey Mouse.0 -
