******CARD: Flash Protest 2 - Billboard and Banner Time!!******

What if you won't even privately admit to them? Or won't even admit to yourself you've made them?valleynick66 said:
I completely agree with this sentiment.AFKABartram said:Can fully see your point @nichorob.
There was a general feeling after the last post match protest that they will very quickly fizzle out if maintained every single game. There needs to be a mixture of pre, post and other forms of protest all supplemented, and perhaps with the car park protests given an angle. There was also a real hope that the team would win today and along with planned poor whether (the rain hasn't fully materialised as planned), that too would have an impacting effect.
The club simply have to plan for one for every game, and even if CARD are not encouraging one for today, there is no guarantee that others won't ad hoc and absolutely nothing stopping people from doing so. In fact, that adds to sense of uncertainty on the Clubs front.
Massive shame though if it is felt that the extent of protesting is just linked to defeats / poor performances. I know for some people it's all about what happens on the pitch, but I thought on a wider basis it was much broader than that.
I think there will be a couple of lessons learned today as not everything materialised / went to plan, but there is nothing that can be done about that now.
This is why I am frustrated however with the criticism of ANYTHING the club does. Not all is bad or wrong if they try a view different things. Change can be good but is challenging.
That is why this campaign must (in my opinion) only talk about the real things of issue and not the relatively minor asides of the Sofa or the DJ (once ?) in the bar or the configuration of the ticket office (opening hours is different) etc.
Concentrate on what is important and don't waste energy on the otherwise mundane issues. Mistakes are what make us all stronger ultimately - even when we don't like to publicly admit to them.10 -
Great banner.0

Well I am not sure that is my point at all which is that we should concentrate on the fundamental issues only.
If you don't have many confidantes who have influence or senior level respect at your place of work it's difficult to admit to any mistake. But I know not if that is the case or alternatively if you know to the contrary.
Who of us can claim to be right in all, that we do ? Our emotive reactions as individuals is what makes us all function and life the way it is.1 -
I tip my hat to everyone who contributed to today.....the folks who donated cash and those who gave their free time in some small or large way to making today's protest a reality.
The billboard looks great, I hope the creative idea types are thinking of ways to use it as I believe it will be there for a minimum of 2 weeks? Is Sam Bartram too heavy to carry down there?
Today marked another week of promoting the cause and a few more pages in the "We Got Our Charlton Back" book. Can't imagine who'll be writing it!
OK, some of the shots were saved and some were off target, so what, we're still very much in the game so chins up everyone and15 -
Well, at the risk of sounding big-headed, the answer to your question is that I can.valleynick66 said:Well I am not sure that is my point at all which is that we should concentrate on the fundamental issues only.

Though I'm also delusional...1 -
what was the logic of announcing this one at 12.00? the 100 people with banners knew what to do so didn't need to be told. everyone else was bannerless so also didn't need to be told
all the announcement seems to have done is alerted the club so they could confiscate them at the turnstiles
a good idea but maybe the execution was off7 -
I wasn't at the game yesterday but I don't get a protest of holding banners, cards etc up at various points of the game as being in line with the support the team not the regime line.
Protests should be before and after not during the game. Just distracts the players in my opinion.
All sounded a bit naff from what I've heard and seen on social media.2 -
Yet you've just asked for people to calmly focus on things you feel are most important when the very nature of supporting a club is emotional, and different aspects of the club's management and its outcome will motivate people differently.valleynick66 said:Well I am not sure that is my point at all which is that we should concentrate on the fundamental issues only.

I know what you're saying, and to me the root of the problem is that Duchatelet is running the club from afar so it doesn't matter how poor his staff are at delivering his strategy. But the focus of these protests is to make it impossible to manage the club, and they will therefore take very different forms and focuses.
The biggest win for me yesterday was that the club had to respond to the threat of the 5pm protest, they had to change their approach on the banners, and a huge billboard was seen by large numbers coming to the ground. Last time the COO admitted the purchasing boycott had an impact.
They now know they're not in control, they are always a step behind, even though things didn't go 100% to order yesterday. They can spend the rest of their time battling long term protest action, and this is just the start, or they can change the way they do things. Or sell, of course.

That's right you carry on believing that such disruption doesn't affect the players if it makes you feel better!! I suppose you also think that booing off 'His one of our own-----' Morgan Fox won't affect his future confidence!!!!!Weegie Addick said:

Hey, anyone know Banksie, a genuine bit of his art on the North Stand wall would be good. Would the club risk destroying a valuable artwork do you think?2 -

Does anyone else get the impression that there's a certain section of our
supportercustomer base that would take more pleasure out of the various protests falling on their backside than being successful and forcing the Roly & Katrien roadshow out?
I wasn't there yesterday but even if not every banner got through or was held up, plenty still did by the looks of it. Obviously the timing wasn't great but you can't plan for us defending a penalty at the prearranged time.
However it still made a visual impact and a statement to the board that reacting to one form of protest, like the banner ban, will only lead to further and different forms of getting the message across.
This is a battle that they cannot really win because they can't really respond in kind and the clumsy, heavy handed treatment of fans like Seb is only going to further the resolve of those protesting.21 -
There's a reason we announced the banners at midday. I'm not going to elaborate on it because it's not necessary, but things evolve between plans being made and delivery.
Things didn't work brilliantly today, but we caused the club a lot of confusion and unnecessary organisation and cost, which is part of our strategy.
We now have a week to build up to a massive 5pm protest next week.
I'd like to join the big shout out to Mr Bligh who did a massive amount of work on the banners - it's dedication and commitment of that kind which will ensure that we win this battle.

Are we still invading the pitch next Saturday, anybody know?3

IMO there is no need to comment to the doubters! It is easy to criticise when you just turn up and wear a black and white Scarf that you got for free!!!
A lot of hard earned money and time went in to all the protests and future protests, some will work some won't!
We will not stop though! this cancer needs removing.

Especially the three guys wearing them in the East Stand who then went on to spend over £20 at half time for their refreshments.C4FC4L1f3 said:IMO there is no need to comment to the doubters! It is easy to criticise when you just turn up and wear a black and white Scarf that you got for free!!!

Walked past the Billboard this morning it looks brilliant, it's in a great spot from traffic coming from Bugsby Way, well done everyone for all the hard work you are putting in.12

no the banners in the ground didn't work as I'm sure CARD hoped, but when arranging for something to happen during a match you are always hostsge to the uncontrollable. However thank you for trying and good luck with the next protest and as you say you will learn for this.8 -
Really???? we need to hit the owners in their pockets each and every home game, not just when a boycott is announced. I will not be spending another penny inside the ground until this lot are gone, end of.Hex said:
