It's difficult. Who's face should be on the decisions made by RD? I think we should have an established British face. I would be proud to support a pretend team with a British pretend manager.

Id prefer Davies to Adkins. Much more passion and guts about him. Adkins strikes me as being soft and dull and I worry how he would motivate and get the best out of a team that isnt full of the quality he inherited at Southampton.

He might have had a good squad but you have to get them to play for you, back to back promotions wasn't a bad return!

Seems like its the press that are scrambling, lets be honest, as ever with this communicative regime, we or the press have no idea who has applied, who been interviewed, who has been considered, lets hope by the end of next week things are a bit clearer.

So true. I hate their Arrogance. Firstly, they didn't think we would go down. Secondly, they didn't think wilder would say no. Welcome nobby vinegar

It'll be Simon Clarke with Jackson as his assistant

Jacko should tell them where to go at least until he finishes playing. Don't want them ruining the career of anybody that I admire.

Would be brilliant if they asked them and then SC and JJ told them to poke it. Half of me wants nobody to accept the job, and Riga ends up back in charge.

Purely just to underline the shittiness of their ownership. Not that it needs to be highlighted.

Their lack of understanding about football in this country has given them an ill conceived confidence that once they decided to appoint a British manager it would be easy.

My guess is that after Wilder they have had several other setbacks and are now scratching around looking at anyone that has had a job in British football.

I disagree that there wasn't a plan b but I do think that plan b has also failed. God only knows where plan c, d and f will take us.

No doubt people would complain about it but I think Simon Clark would be a decent appointment, highly thought of by everyone I've heard. Still need a bit of experience in the back room though.

Billy Davies is an interesting one. I think as a manager he is excellent. His teams play good football and generally do well but remember he alledgedy didn't join us all those years ago due to him not having full control and not getting to choose the back room team. So why would he come under this regime and if they convinced him and he did come... well that could be very intersting. He fell out with the press at forest and refused to speak with them. I wonder what he would make of the protests if he was in charge? Or perhaps with him running the show and a winning team that would die down. I think it would, but would Roland ever really let him do that.. I suspect not and if he came in and didn't get what he was promised he'd be off in a a shot. The ideal but unlikely scenario is that he does come in and forces full control and uses his know how to turn the club around.

Billy Davis with autonomy would be better than Riga (or anyone else) without.

Billy Davies now trending on Twitter as he's linked with the Blackburn job by local press up there.

Didn't Davies walk into our changing room and applaud the team after our game against Forest a few years ago? Along with Cardiff at home, probably the best we ever played under Powell that night.

It has taken a long time, but it was important that we made sure that we got the best person for Charlton. Our new manager is.......ball number 5!

So the two names that have emerged with any consistency over the last four days or so. Adkins and Davies are both linked elsewhere. Unless both are not on our radar I doubt we are going to get an appointment very soon.

Perfect preparation for the coming season. Building strong for promotion though Katrien Meire? Huh?

I've just skipped about 5 pages on this thread, have I missed anything? No. OK then, carry on. Hopefully we'll get someone in before August.

The fact that a club like Charlton are finding it impossible to find a manager with any credibility shows just how far we've come under this regime.

    Absolutely bloody scandalous.

Far be it from to defend Meire who I hate with a passion, but to say we're finding it impossible to find a manager, at this point in time is patently nonsense.

Wilder turned us down, but I'm not aware that anyone else has.

If we've not made an appointment by this time next week, then it will start to be concerning.
