He not a manager who runs up and down touchline waving his arms about but what he is is a very good coach ... The job he done at Orient was top drawer and getting Cardiff so close to play offs with all the problems he had to cope with was excellent ....
Have no issues if he gets the job

You would have thought that seeing as we have had 3 managers in the past year that we would have had quite a shortlist of mangers we have already spoken to.. I mean, we must have held plenty of interviews over that time, surely.........

Come on FFS, I keep opening Charlton life and expecting the heading in this thread to have been edited to confirm a new manager.

I was almost certain it would have happened today. Pathetic.

Steve Evans has now reportedly left Leeds. That's another club we have to compete with manager wise (tbh any manager who takes on either Leeds, Blackburn or Charlton must be mad).

    Gary Monk 1/3 for Leeds.

Not that I think he'd be best one but I'm a bit surprised that Neil Redfearn hasn't been mentioned.

I also would have thought by now we would have heard something, whether it's a manager turning us down or another club saying we've asked for their permission to speak to their manager.
Then again, Everton still haven't got a manager and that should have been sorted before now too.

We continue to wait with baited breath...

Redfearn is 25/1, 7th favourite for Charlton.

Since Wilder there have been a couple of newspaper stories we have interviewed Davies and others... Then nothing. The club is hardly going to report on every manager that turns us down, it would be admitting to the failure they do not do.

There is always someone desperate to get back into management... but not desperate enough to come to us it seems.

I think we might have exhausted the credible candidates and are now looking at a list of either untried or those not been in management for a while.

I thought JJ was unlikely but the longer this farce continues the more likely I can see him being the fall back position.

Lol...love the way they explain in brackets that 40-1 shot Steve Davis is the current Crewe boss...just so we didn't think they meant the Plumstead boy, former snooker world champ and now Trance DJ version!!

Now that Steve Evans has officially been sacked, Charlton can officially appoint him

"Steve Evans is due to sign for Charlton tonight if terms can be agreed. Sources close to the former Leeds manager suggest the 14 chip maximum at the Valley is one sticking point"

He was due a testimonial if he was in charge for more than a year there.

If Steve Evans is interested, I wouldn't hesitate.

Personally I think it would be a excellent appointment.

Which means it's not going to happen

He could do a dual role. Head coach and CFO.

I heard the sticking point was the narrow door to KM's office.

Ah thanks. Didn't show up on my phone. Whether he'd fancy moving down south is another question.

But no good manager is going to come we are looking for the best of a mediocre lot, with one or two have had good times but fallen on bad times.

The delay is probably that the managers we are interested in, would rather go for a Championship job with Leeds, Forest, Reading & Blackburn. (Bolton are also looking).

We may not get an answer until these positions have been filled :-(
