Congratulations to everyone who's contributed to getting this thread up to 46 pages despite nothing actually happening since it started.
However, things seem to have gone a bit quiet over the last few days. With that in mind, if you happen to be at a loose end at the moment, please could you undertake one of the following important tasks:
- Set the bookies into panic mode by sticking a tenner on either Kit Symons or Sean O'Driscoll to be our next manager; - Tweet that you've just seen Dougie Freedman buying some bin liners and a new ironing board in Sainsburys on Woolwich Road; - Claim that you've just seen Steve Kean walking into an estate agents in Mottingham.
Seriously your celebrating getting to 46-pages on here!!... This right here is the problem with Charlton fans these days.
Andy Delort got his thread up to 59-Pages and never signed, at least this thread will (should) see someone sign eventually

Take your point, but we had Andy Delort's dad sending out tweets to let us know what was going on, so we had something new to discuss everyday. This might only be 46 pages, but it's all our own self-generated speculation based on hearsay, guesswork and Twitter posts from a man who is pretending to be a journalist for the "Forest Echo News", which doesn't even exist. I feel very proud.

29,000 followers , freelance sports journo in cork... Unless Slade has just gone on holiday , surely he couldn't have been in negotiations etc?

Just had a look through Barry O' Mahoney's tweeting history - mostly retweets, not much of his own work and nothing to suggest he's in any way connected. Put away the bunting again I think.

He's just in Dubai and conveniently bumped into Katrien. They will travel back together and once he remembers the shite we're in he'll do a runner

Urgh. Imagine being stuck next to her on an eight hour flight.

Let's not be too hasty. Who knows what will happen in the next week or so.
Given Steve Evans is available I'm not longer as opposed to Slade. Don't really understand why him, and what he brings to the coaching side that we couldn't get elsewhere. I know I think more highly of Riga than some, but I'm not convinced Slade, or Wilder, would be drastic improvements on Riga.
So we now enter June and still no one appointed, Great work KM the saving on wages must delight your boss
Lot of clubs trying to fill positions .... which makes it harder to get managers to commit .....like players they won't commit themselves till end of June
10 clubs have appointed managers since we got rid of Jose Riga on 7 May
Given that the decision to get rid of Riga was made before then and we are in a greater need of a manager than many others having been relegated this is a stunning indictment of the competence of KM and RD. There was clearly no plan B in place if the appointment of Chris Wilder fell through.
Perhaps Colin might help us by defining what a CEO of a football club has to do or fail to do before he has a scintilla of doubt about the competence of the individual concerned??????

This is not a "Colin" dig so I apologise if it comes across as this because I do listen to a lot of things you say, but that has to be crap. What time of the year a manager is appointed is completely irrelevant, contracts or not. Players yes. Managers no. Managers are sacked and hired all year round. I agree with you that lost of clubs trying to fill positions at the moment which is probably holding things up ( or simply because nobody wants to work for the regime). But because they want to wait until the end of June? Really!!!?
Exactly. Identify your man and go get him.
And if you don't succeed you then go after the next best choice - pretty simple really.

I think you have a point but the real issue for me is having a coach / manager that's knows league one and what's needed to play effective winning football in that division. I liked Riga too but I think league one is a very different division to what any of our previous RD coaches are used to.
Evans on talksport this morning saying his agent received a few calls last night from clubs of various levels
I'm just staggered that any football club owners are so desperate that they actually know who his agent is, let alone what his 'phone number might be!
(Meire [on the 'phone first day back in the office after her latest holiday]: "Thanks for my new Samsung S7 Edge Mr Duchâtelet, now I just need to get Steve Evans' agent on speed dial and we are all set to go.")

I don't necessarily disagree. I think that the Champo is now of a technical and tactical standard that having experience there is not as important as it used to be, because it's become more continental. That's certainly not the case with League one, where it's still based a lot around pace and power and physicality. For as puritanical as I like to be about coaches and tactics, I do have to remind myself that it's a horses for courses scenario.
That said, there isn't anyone we've gone after who has had unparalleled success in the lower leagues, with the exception of Adkins. If we're going to pick a manager with experience, I feel like it should at least be one with experience of success.

No rush. We're fucked anyway
I heard it won't be Slade as he has a substantial compensation clause in his contract which we are unlikely to trigger
Should fit in ok with Roland then .
