Word on the street is we have been turned down by several managers. You can only guess the reasons.
The club under this regime are damaged goods. A laughing stock within the wider footballing community.
No-one will get the assurances they will want regarding control and as such we will be limited to an internal appointment, a friend of the network or someone with low stock.
The situation is of the owners making. He can't do anything to put it right.
2-3 weeks time we get Nobby (as an interim) and we sign a load of leftover dross.
Upshot? Relegated again.
wilder did not turn us down , Cotterill amd Davies was never offered anything to turn down, as yet Adkins and Slade not been offered the role but expect one of them to be in the next few days ..Evans to soon no contact been made
So word on the street is wrong ..
This is bad, even for you Colin. Which ever way you look at it Wilder certainly turned us down. Both clubs admitted that we were in talks with him, yet for whatever reason he ends up at Sheffield United.
Lived in Sheffield Children schooled in Sheffield Do not have to move family from Sheffield Supports Sheffield United Blah blah blah
Northampton is a long way from Sheffield.
Colin1961/Bexleyboy, what do get out of the rubbish you post?
Northampton to Sheffield is under 2 hours drive and quite a few managers work away from home, far closer than Charlton, housing cheaper and children don't have to change school, sometimes Colin is not completely wrong
Sheffield does seem a better choice for Wilder but even Colin said he'd signed an agreement with us so like it or not he turned us down.
He had the option of us or Utd and didn't go with us so he turned us down, it happens so it's not the end of the world but we didn't have a plan B and there's the rub.
And it doesn't matter to me how many other clubs don't have a manager as I'm a Charlton fan.
It's June and we need to yet again rebuild the entire squad but there is no one at the helm, no plan, no style of play or direction.

The reason pretty simple he lived in Sheffield travelled to Northampton , his wife and kids are settled in Sheffield .....
Only an extra hour to Charlton from Sheffield Colin. I'd travel an extra hour for three times the salary I was on..... Unless of course it was under a shit house boss who wouldn't let me do my job properly.

He's a Sheff Utd fan, played there for years and wanted the job. He used us to get Sheff Utd to show their hand hence it was done super quickly.
Meire had arranged a press conference to announce Wilder's appointment. I think we can safely assume even she would not have fine that without offering him the job. So he turned us done. There really isn't any room for debate on that.

Why's the contact length a secret? Could be a two year contract or a twenty year contract, he'll be gone before Christmas so don't see what difference it makes.

It's not so much a contract with this lot, more a sentence.
