To those digging out Vetokele, the man wasn't allowed to exercise during one of the injuries... Not really sure we can blame the man for the club for rushing him back.

According to a Belgian journo on Twitter, the future fee is well out of the clubs range so he'll more than likely be returning next year.

If you break your leg, and can't move you cut down on the calorie intake or else you turn into a fat bastard

According to Murray a big part of the reason we got relegated was because this bloke wasn't fit. Now we're loaning him out to some no-mark Belgian team nobody has ever heard of. Where are the Championship clubs fighting for his signature?

Pretty sure that was Ventokele...

Ha, I've managed that and didn't even have to break my leg to do so :-)

Wish him luck, can't help but feel he owes us something in a way... but his injury has been mismanaged by the club, it's clearly got to him, needs a fresh start. Big shame.

Hold up.. You said you feel he owes us something then followed it by stating as mismanaged his injury. On that basis I'd say he owes us nothing

    It's fairly straightforward if you're a professional sportsman on £300k to £500k a year.

He just isn't good enough anymore. Part of the reason for that is Charlton's fault, clearly plaing someone who was not even 50% fit last season. Even this season it was blindin obvious he wasn't fully fit. Nevertheless i do feel to an extent he is living off those first 5 games ine Championship. Considering the stick big Mak got it is suprising Igor is seen in a totally differeny state.
  • I hope that in his signing interview he says how incompetent Pinocchio is for balance with the recent signings on the OS.

All this sniping about Igor, but people need to realise that the two arguments being made aren't in conflict. They can both be right. Was Igor overplayed when injured which contributed to his poor form? Sure. Was he also dogshit except for a few months at the start of his time with us? Yes. We can go back and forth forever over who contributed to this situation but in the end the fact is over two years Igor wasn't a good player for us, and the well is now sufficiently poisoned that it's time for him to move on. The fact he's done one to some tiny Belgian nothing club probably works in everyone's favour. It would have been nice to reclaim some of that apparently hefty fee we paid for him, but if we could reclaim any money on him he'd probably have done something to make him worth holding on to.

The 'shit hot' striker Bob Peeters promised us never really materialised and it's time to move on for everyone.

Loan? What are the terms of his contract etc?

If we can loan one or two players out for the season - with a view of getting them back next season if we are successfully promoted.. well, for once I'd have to congratulate The Regime for their shrewdness.

I think we both know Igor will never pull on a cafc shirt again.
That would be my guess too but I thought the same about Reza.

And Watt and Tucedean still on our books, for now at least.
Take your point but watt and tucudean played one game between them since this"lets start moaning people out we don't like" game started. And with them and Reza I think it comes down more to being unable, more than unwilling, to sell them.

Whereas the drinking culture which still exists among British players (and looked on with amazement by foreign players) is perfectly fine, because it's all part of the team bonding process, right?

That makes Chris Parkes's office look palatial! Did he sign his contract in a church hall?
Looks like Pentonville with his probation officer

    Happy to be there.

Vetokele was total mustard until his first injury. Which emotion a lot longer than expected to heal, no idea why.

He also got married and had a kid. Well done, I hear Mrs Vetokele is an attractive lady.

It's a shame we didn't see him at his best for long. I think there are probably many influences as to why that was, and I hope he finds form and fitness elsewhere.

Personally I think he and we need to move on. Not sorry to hear he is leaving, I hope he does well enough to make it permanent.

I always thought his touch had completely disappeared when he came back from injury. Surely this something that doesn't get affected?

I pretty much echo what @Garrymanilow said

He promised a lot early on.

We treated bim badly with his injury.

    He put on weight.

I do not blame Igor for going.

A shame as those first 10 games showed us a very decent player.

Touch can go with confidence and fitness in some players. Igor was brilliant for 10 games ; such a shame injuries curtailed that. It was always highly unlikely that he'd stay in league 1.

Was that even mentioned? Or where Vetekele comes from?

I accept that club has really ****** him over with the way they treated his injuries, however, any player starting pre-season that overweight really should have some questions to answer, no matter where they are from.

Vetokel's pre-season was not a normal one, like say that of Yann Kermorgant who always came back overweight presumably because he had spent the summer enjoying fine Breton cuisine.

Vetokele was still injured during the pre-season. You can't train properly if you are injured. How difficult is that for people to understand?

I guess I'll better translate what's said by Igor. The title states: BP sacked because we had a start of the season that was too good ...
On his "adventure" in London ... "the most difficult period in my life". In 2014 he went to the Championship. When he heard BP was there he didn't hesitate for a moment. With this move he ended up with RD. "I really didn't want to become part of the Duchâtelet network, ending getting shifted around from one club to another. I made that clear from the beginning. I was ambitious and wanted to play for Charlton, not for another club. However, I soon got branded as a RD product. One can't change what people start to think." Vetokele witnessed the many manager changes(list of names - you know them). "Let me start by saying BP got sacked because we started the season better then anticipated (first 11 games without defeat). Within the club the idea grew to augment the club's ambitions, although we lacked in number of players. Sacking BP was a mistake in my opinion. Luzon and a number of players didn't get along. Everybody understood what he wanted to achieve on defense, but the offensive part was pure chaos.
As a result of an injury Vetokele missed the better half of last season. He only got to play 16 times and only scored once. "This was the most difficult part of my career, even of my life. I never felt really good after that injury, that wasn't treated well by the physio's (is this English ? ) . They claimed I wasn't really injured. It took 3, 4 months after which I visited Lieven Maesschalck (Antwerp based, world renowned physio therapist) . He immediately knew what the problem was and recommended surgery . Eventually I got the surgery in November. In Engeland they said that the earlier X-rays were taken from a wrong angle, thus resulting in not seeing the injury. Typical for English football, lots of money goes around and they urge you to get back on the pitch ASAP."
