    So does Dave now get a deserved apology from those who gave him the undeserved criticism last season for not simply walking out on his job and joining in with the protests... Going to be interesting to see who it is next season now!!

    As he says, he was always going to leave but whenever you leave a job it should always be on your terms rather than anyone else's and people need to start realising that before they criticise anymore Charlton fans who are still working for the club

    Hope Dave can come back when we've got proper owners back!!

    Funny mix of feelings, this - sad that another part of "our Charlton" has gone but proud to read that it is on principle and that he will be joining the protests.

    All the very best @BigDL. Still vividly remember you announcing my arrival on the Valley pitch as a substitute in the Charlton Life match all those years ago!

    He was god awful, no links to Charlton, never sounded like he cared about the club and ended up taking up a similar role the moment he could elsewhere

    They are good for generating some atmosphere but only work with a fanatical crowd. Ours would sound like a kids playground

    Wow 24 seasons... I'm 33 so that is the voice I have heard through all of my CAFC supporting days.

    Must have been a tough choice, hopefully he'll be back when this shower eventually fk off
