Prime Minister resigns, not even a nod. But @BDL resigning has broken me, and shows how toxic the regime is.
If someone like Dave, who lives, breaths, and bleeds Charlton, can't be part of the club while they're there, then that speaks volumes. I remember the first time I met Dave, he was joking that he had a perfect opportunity to put vote valley posters up inside Woolwich Town Hall. That's how much he loves the club.
As Dave alluded to, the temptation to speak up out there pitch side must have been immense. But it's testament to his professionalism that he didn't. I don't think any of us could of held ourselves back like that.
I salute you Dave, and glad you're now part of the protests.
I genuinely fear who they'll have in store for us next though !
Any normal person would go for an option that would go unnoticed, get some out of work actor with a nice voice to replicate the style of BDL. I reckon they go for Lady T, on the decks, by the side of the pitch, if any protests get noisy she'll drown them out with something bangin'. There will be goal music.
But moaning about absolutely everything is bordering on obsessional
I enjoy a good moan and Charlton is an obsession of mine and others. This is also a good place to vent your spleen. No bad thing being obsessional in general. Focused might be a better term.
I would say that in my world, not going to home games - which is something I have done regularly since 1975 is a big deal. That this regime has done this to me and others is a very big deal.
This business about being told off for welcoming back a club legend. I am assuming Dave wasn't told off before the announcement but afterwards. So what is the mentality that does that? For a start the moment has passed. Is the 'telling off' a warning not to welcome back club legends in the future? Who would even think to do that? If it is control freakery then it fits the regime perfectly. If the desire to control extends to such a relatively small matter, then it is reasonable to imagine the control freakery extends to team selection, a far more significant aspect of the club than an innocent announcement. Fresh start? I expect we will soon say fresh start my arse. File it alongside building a better tomorrow together.
Just catching up after a day away yesterday. Truly a sad day when @BDL cuts his ties with the club we love, but a really classy statement and one delivered from the heart.
Not sure at the moment whether I can make The Swan on Saturday, but I'm assuming there may be someone available who'd make a bloody good MC for the day!!
You'll be back one day Dave, hopefully soon, with a large number of us all back at the same time to keep the faith with you!

They are simply just complete knobs. Really embarrassing people.
I think a part of it was the fact that Yann, specifically had a go at them in the press which would make more sense if that was prior to his return to the valley this year. Can't quite remember though.
They don't like Yann Kermorgant for probably quite a few reasons.
Even considering that, they are just complete morons, freaks, pathetic, sad folk for moaning to Dave about him being welcomed back. The fans love him and so they should, and so he should be welcomed back.
It's like they wanted to moan at Dave for "siding with the fans" as though it's a war...and Dave is not a fan himself, just an employee under the regime. Bollocks.
This sort of reminds me of when that other c*nt pardew moaned when Deano was welcomed back. He couldn't understand why? Because he's a c*nt.
Pardew is the slightly more successful version of Cahone.
I think they would have got it by now if they didn't have the mental issues they seem to have! We can't hope for that anymore! Toxic and crazy - we will struggle next season! I can see us having to form a new Charlton!
you may be right but i genuinely think a few on here could do with taking a holiday with no internet access - try to remove the douchatalet virus that has overwhelmed everybody - some of the drama and misery is truly amazing when you look at some of the real tragedies that are happening around the world at the moment
One of my pet hates is comments like that. Yes, there are far worse situations and incidents happening in the world. We all know that. However, this is a football forum, a Charlton Athletic forum. No-one's comparing the goings on at Charlton to a terrorist attack or a war. We do, though, have the right to moan about what is happening to the football club that this forum is all about.
Totally agree with Alan
Shit like "puts it all in to perspective " and "there are more important things to be worrying about" etc ffffs of course there are but only a fucktard would need reminding of that We are on a Charlton message board and there is the odd thread about real world problems to chew the cud over but bore off with stating the obvious about the importance of things . Of course Charlton chuff is not as important as human tragedies taking place
LOL. Not to do it again! Like not to do it if Yann returns again, or any club legend returns. Or you're supposed to be a mind reader, or check every word against a senior management list of allowed or not allowed pronouncements.
Seriously, there was a story last season about walking football people being introduced or something, and a club employee was concerned about their clothes, and of course there is the data techniques boxgate malarkey to consider too. Do we have club employees walking around with hidden earphones like in one of those American Cop films, whilst Tony Cojones stands atop Valiant House with binoculars instructing them behind a cupped hand concealing a microphone?
What is supposed to happen if by some miracle we are drawn at home in a cup to Liverpool? Not welcome Joe Gomez?

At one of the West Stand protests last season there were, in addition to the guy with a video camera standing in front of the entrance filming the protesters, several blue-jacketed stewards outside of the barriers with still-cameras taking photos of the protesters closest to the barriers. When I started to take photos back, one hid his face and turned away whilst another looked startled and effectively did a runner - so yes there has been something of a clandestine operation to identify what the club would no doubt term as 'troublemakers'. I think this was already known - the irony being that the person on a day to day basis doing more to harm the club than anyone going over the top with a bit of verbal abuse is the CEO Katrien Meire who has singlehandedly seemingly with the blessing of her overlord inflicted damage so severe that it could take many years to repair and alienated one of the most loyal fan bases in the country.
One day a book will be written about all this. The BDL resignation and the reasons he gives for doing so will deserve a chapter on its own. Good on yer Dave.
So many of the old guard down at Ebbsfleet now. Karl Howman has some sort of role doesn't he? I saw him with Peter Varney and other board members at Eastbourne v Ebbsfleet last November, cheering them on and shouting for them.

They just don't "get" Charlton, we're all weird aren't we? Or is that unique?
Puts it all into perspective.
I knew you'd come round to my way of thinking in the end. (And thanks for the reference in your statement)
