Charlton owner Roland Duchatelet sneaks out of club to avoid protesting fans

No wonder Roland uses duct tape
"Meanwhile, the high tax on labour effectively increases the cost of services for those who want their shoes, a washing machine or a bike to be repaired."

How weak does it make RD and KM look that they have to skulk around their own premises in case they bump into "protesters" aka people who don't agree with them.
That you dare not engage with your "customers" unless it is all controlled.
That is hardly a sign of strength.
And having to hire a PR company because you cannot convince a large proportion of your "customers" that you are any good.
That is an admission of failure.
Even with this tight control, they still balls it up, with the 1.5% comment, which is wonderfully unique( as in weird) and then they get a member of the inner circle to resign for high treason ( as in tweeting about the secret meeting)
It is actually laughable isn't it.
How Roland ever made any money from anything should be the subject of serious scientific study because it defies all explanation based on his efforts at Charlton.
The tip toeing around thing is quite bizarrely sad.
I believe the 1.5% quote was more of bragging explanation as to why he doesn't need to give a f*ck.
The man has no pride in his work (picky and choosy to say the least) but yet is a millionaire.
It stinks.
I don't care how much work he's done elsewhere etc or whatever.
He doesn't deserve the fortune he has.
Based on the way he has treated his 1.5% "minor" "irrelevant" business.

Agree, and the obvious target is Strapix and his prime Belgian assets.FORD said:So what Douchebag has told us with the 1.5% statement is that if we want him to notice the protest then we have to start impacting his higher and more important investment... ... ...
I don't know enough about business re financial targeting - he will be immune to that in Belgium for obvious reasons but getting access to AGMs and tryin.
This would take considerable time and the right kind of contacts but Duchatelet doesn't like to be viewed as the clown he undoubtably is.
He is a one-trick pony who believes that he is a field full of ponies (with apologies to The Apprentice)3blokes said:Was thinking about this secret meeting.

I for one hadn't realised that it was Target 20K who destroyed the fan sofa on the last day of the season and scattered its remains on the pitch.
I am surprised therefore that Duchatelet agreed to meet these hard-core protesters!18 -
Mingle outside the stadium for a social occasion LOL4
-
As a season ticket holder in the North Lower (it will always be the Covered End for me), I can assure Target20K that the atmosphere has deteriorated significantly this season compared to previous seasons.2
-
Roly agreed that communication between the club and the fans needed to be improved, and he committed to further dialogue.
I swear this must be at least the 6th or 7th time that either him or Meire have said this in their time here.11 -
I'm taken with the last point that the group have helped with re. The Proud Valliants meeting room, is the naming in honour of the late great Andy Nelson and his misspelling of Valiants? I thought they weren't interested in the clubs history!!0

I really can't get my head around it. How can anybody spend £40m+ on something yet only give 1.5% of a fuck about it?!

I have a question for them. Where do they get their drugs?6
-
So you can't be a member of target 20k if you are unemployed, a pensioner or person of private means - not very representative then?8
-
I can't work out what they get out of it. Their "achievements" are pretty bloody poor - getting rid of the sofa?! A student discount at a time when the club was sponsored by a university? - and they're content for the club to release details of their meeting before they finally get around to doing it days later. I can only hope that the huge delay in them getting that statement out is a sign that they've had a few rows about it and their mysterious members are getting pissed off with the whole charade.
I understand why people go along with things for an easy life - but to actively assist in an endeavour that is both futile and making them a laughing stock is just bizarre. Is there any personal beef between Metin Afiya and anyone in CARD at all?
Mr Afiya does seem genuine - there is a LinkedIn profile in his name, works at McLaren motorsport in Guildford, went to Thomas Tallis school in Kidbrooke. Maybe there's some sport conference link between him and Meire? Used to have a Twitter account - @turkishbastard (!!) - appears to have followed CAFC and Target20k shortly before deleting his account.
edit: he also has a public Facebook account, showing him at a formal do clutching an old CAFC Llanera shirt. His pals there, for what it's worth, include Swisdom of this parish, and the unlucky Alison who found herself drummed out of T20k for speaking out of turn.5 -
Un-elected elite, just like the House of Lords, I see the club have gone from refurbishing the JS Sign to refurbishing the whole stand. This group does not represent me as I am retired and have no place within this group for me. How do they seek the fans views?2
-
if they think improving communication between club and supporters is for THEM to publish a statement after each meeting, then they can shove that statement up their arses, this bunch really are self importance, Sue Perks wannabes!!!!1

Love their comments about the Student offer.
The idiots have priced a Student Season Ticket so that its CHEAPER for the Students to pick and choose their matches depending where they sit, shouldnt it be the other way round?1 -
They have destroyed the atmosphere in the north upper fractured the only decent area that sang during a game, so epic fail on that lads.2

"Free away coach travel last year"?
Hats off to them. I hadn't realised that away coach travel was free last year, but well done to them for securing that.
Or have they maybe got that wrong?0 -
So Roland stressed he had never been involved in team selection. Does that mean that he is saying Chrissy Powell is lying??
What a load of tosh.9 -
Stand corrected but the first game they did this was for Preston.......midweek!Off_it said:"Free away coach travel last year"?

Says it all really, what's the point in offering free coach travel to Preston on a Tuesday night.ElfsborgAddick said:

Thats how deluded they are, they clearly don't realise by saying it never happened means they are calling one of the most respected individuals in the game a liar. Even anyone who isn't that closely involved with Charlton knows CP is as honest as the day is long.bellz2002 said:So Roland stressed he had never been involved in team selection. Again, there's a pattern here. The new PR company have clearly advised the SMT to keep repeating things and they may well start to be believed. Any journalist looking to go down the "Duchatalet interferes" line will immediately find the quote and possibly assume that he is as good as his word.Rob7Lee said:

Much of what is coming out the club this season is PR-advised material aimed at slowly blunting opposition and rebuilding the SMT's image. No more, no less.3 -
It seems that the SMT of the club has decided that Target20K can now be considered the official conduit with rank and file fans ... not just one meeting but seemingly regular (albeit top secret) ones. Hence the repeated comments about none of them having affiliations with the club etc etc. Guess it means Sue and Squirrel Face will have more human shields in the directors' box before too long.smiffyboy said:if they think improving communication between club and supporters is for THEM to publish a statement after each meeting, then they can shove that statement up their arses, this bunch really are self importance, Sue Perks wannabes!!!!
