no wonder they beat us. They're sponsored by checkatrade! Fix!

There seemed to be a fair number of Crawley fans there, judging from the cheers after the penalty miss as well...

Some of that is just pure comedy. Fox's contributions to their goals, Rudd's attempted punch, Ahearne-Grant's free kick, Novak's pen. I actually really enjoyed those highlights far more than I thought I would

Bit unfair on Rudd. He was sitting on the bench. I think you'll find Phillips was in goal.
I think it makes it all the sillier that, despite not being in the team, he came out and tried to punch the ball and got in poor Dillon's way.

Not putting it past whoever was left there for us sarcastically cheering a penalty miss

In a similar vein, Pearce came off the bench to take over RJ's swearing at the supporters role

Been saying it all along, we're a team who don't understand their roles. SLADE OUT! ;)

Does make me laugh how Pearce can swear at a kid and it's 50/50 if it's in the wrong but when Johnson does it he outed straight away. Shows players can do what they want and fans will only care depending on their ability. Fuck em both fuck em all. Club is rotten to the core.

    Did this actually happen ?

Morgan Fox deary me. He is quite often responsible for losing us one goal, but 2 against a L2 team.

I'm afraid to say I don't think he's even football league standard. Shocking.

Phillips was shaky in goal. Konsa did okish. Lennon was just about ok. Johnson was our best player & actually looked like a professional football player. Holmes did well. Ulvestad & Crofts were anonymous & Chicksen was ok.

Ajose was poor & Novak was absolutely shamefully poor.

Hanlan & Aribo were both better than the others when they came on & clearly gave a shit, unlike most of the afore mentioned.

    Absolutely, shameful & heartbreaking.

In fairness Johnson swore at an adult. That's far worse!

Ha, slip of the finger. I think my brain is refusing to devote the necessary thought power to the Checkatrade Trophy. My apologies to Declan Rudd, who I imagine would have punched it into orbit

I got a fair bit of abuse for having a go at Morgan fox a couple of months ago but ffs he is not improving at all if you ask me.
Last night he had an absolute shocker against a team from a lower league.
Should a miracle happen and we regain our championship status he would be a disaster

    Just seen the "highlights".

Was the lack of closing down for the first goal the way we played throughout? Lack of effort or Peeters style tactics of trying to sit back and keep the shape?

I can't imagine any of the clubs we've played this season playing like that against us.

Good to see Fox being a useless c*nt for both goals.

"He'll be a good player in league one" Will he?

I may be wrong, so apologies if I am, I seem to recall that last weekend a player was given a straight RED because he made an offensive sign to a fan on the terraces, the ref saw it and off he went.
I don't know what happened last night, but if a kid was sworn at by Pearce then perhaps he should apologise? Afterall the player I refer to above is banned for 3 games I guess?

If the officials didn't hear or see it, the FA can't act. Only the club can.
Sorry my fault, I meant that if a ref can send off a player for making a rude gesture, perhaps the club should speak with Pearce for his poor comment.

To be honest, I've been pretty disappointed with Pearce so far. If he wants to climb aboard the Good Ship Do One along with Johnson and the rest he's welcome to

Fox (although still young and having spent the first few years of his professional career at a mess of a club), is being found out. If he was a decent player with a decent career ahead of him he would've shown a bit more about him this season, particularly at this level. I see him having some sort of career panning out like this

    Us,

    Colchester,

    Barnet,

    Something like that

did we really turn down a £1.75m bid from Wednesday for Fox ?

IIRC it was 1.2m and 1.4m. From the sounds of things he's been fine in the league thus far, and I believe he's played in every game for us (league and cup). I was surprised that he wasn't rested yesterday. Can't particularly blame him if he isn't fully switched on for a silly match.

Yes you can. I drove a 110 miles return journey to watch the game. If he wasn't really trying, as you suggest, I can blame him a lot. Although actually he was far from being the most useless player on the pitch - step up Lee Novak and Ajose.
  • Fox's attitude has been spot on in the two games i've seen this season and yesterday was hopefully a blip, not the most talented but his attitude has been top notch throughout with us

I think he's improved quite a bit over the last season and a bit.

Never thought he was complete rubbish but a bit prone to errors which he had been ironing out. Sounds like he had a shocker and hope he comes back well from it.

    Hang in there Mike.

    Yes, that's fair.

Although as an aside, I do think we should talk about why you drove 110 miles to see that match. Are you doing okay?

Don't want to join in with the Fox bashing, as although not perfect is decent enough. I would have supported sale for 1.4 / 1.75 million and kept Holmes Dennis, who is / was a decent prospect.

I think fox is a decent prospect.

His defence is normally good although maybe he is a bit short on pace.

Holmes-Dennis was never a defensive option.

Fox does come forwards quite well and overlaps and his final ball has improved but looks still a bit training ground rather than seeing a run to pick out, he needs to get his head up more in those situations.

I think he can do it.

Mumm thought he was an asset last year, think he will be one this year but the reports from last night are poor.

Everyone can have a bad game right? Let's hope that is all it was.
