Reportedly said that we "need to stick together and the protests need to stop on Saturday"

    Reportedly? By whom?
Someone on Twitter who spoke to him last night.

Slade was pretty decent in his press conference - he didn't declare that he didn't have any balls for instance! I have nothing against Robinson, it just makes sense to me to keep things as they are and see if it is a flash in the plan or something more substantial!

You're forgetting one thing - Roly doesn't care about results. He will do what he wants when he wants.

BDL has a funny tweet regarding an interaction with KR last season.

  • Let's see what he says in his press conference first before we hang him out to dry because of one guy on twitter.

This - but he had better be word perfect when announced by the beaming Meire #groundhogday.
If she uses the words 'new era' prepare to groan, Are CARD going to bring out a 'bingo' card like they did for the Jim White interview?

I'm personally ok with Robinson if it's him but the regime have no place at this football club.

Does anybody know how Robinson sets up? I knew Slade was negatively minded before he joined us, but I don't know about Robinson. I reckon Meire wouldn't know either if you asked her and she is appointing the bloke. It is quite an important question, especially as the bloke currently doing the job seems to get it!

When Brussel was appointed my reaction was 'Russell kin Slade! I'd never met Slade but his track record was average to say the least.

Likewise I've never met Robinson one of the youngest ever Managers at age 30 who has never played above non league level in Senior football. That doesn't make him unqualified for the role but if I were a nobody I would be a little more circumspect in my TV interviews, he isn't and that is what grates with many not just those on here.

His association with the Franchise doesn't do him any favours either although to his credit he did turn down an approach from Cellino to manage Leeds last May and more importantly footballing wise his win ratio is decent with a promotion.

Beggars can't be choosers though and Cellino to Douchbag is evidence of this. For him to have any chance of being accepted by the majority of the fans he needs to educate himself on their plight and avoid any inflammatory remarks.

Whether someone with his ego can keep it buttoned I doubt, only time will tell but nothing changes in terms of this club being rid of the despot and his lackeys who run it.

Protests need to stop! Have we ever lost when we've organised a big protest? Lapping up the lies already, not welcome

Heard a lot about him here given MK Dons were covered on our local BBC station.

MK Dons tended to be a side that liked to play a possession game building from the back - oddly they seemed to be much better on the road that at home.

Struggled a lot to score goals but that might be down to the lack of strikers they had...suspect you have better.

If you lose (hopefully you won't too many times!) he will blame anything and anyone but himself (or the team)!

Very critical of the officials - often Warnock style!

Good luck - hope it works out well!

What are the Church up to now?

At the end of the day he will be judged on results and maybe he is just concerned about the team and how the protests may affect that! Everybody is jumping to conclusions about what he has supposedly said and also reading into his move here....give the guy a chance for gods sake!

I remember when my old man wrote off Euell and JJ after a pre season friendly at Reading and they went on to be heros for us in there first season at the club!

Again I have met Karl personally through my job after he bought a house through my ex employer and trust me his passion and enthusiasm for MK Dons was second to none and that shone through when we used to talk about each of our teams troubles at the bottom of the table last season! If he replicates that for us then we can only head in the right direction! Albeit with these idiots running the club but the manager and players can't help that!

But his enthusiasm and passion got them relegated
  • When we've played MKD in recent years I always thought they played decent football and through the midfield with players like Stephen Gleason shining.

    Let's give Robinson a chance.

To be honest I cannot recall the exact words, it was said to me as he walked past after I'd said something to him about Chris Powell's team in League one but that was the gist of it and basket case was used.

    Welcome Karl!

He'll be given a chance by me if he chooses his words carefully but leopards aren't known for changing their spots.

You simply have to give the fella a chance......after all, what's the alternative?
  • If you look up MK Dons on wiki there's a paragraph that says this:

"A few weeks later, the Dons recorded their record win, a 6–0 thrashing of Colchester United at home. That record did not last long as it was broken once again with a 7–0 demolition of Oldham Athletic on 20 December 2014. Just over a month later, on 31 January 2015, the Dons recorded a joint record 5–0 away win against Crewe Alexandra, earning a short-lived top spot. On 3 May the club secured promotion to the Football League Championship for the first time, beating Yeovil Town 5–1"

Sounds pretty far removed from the Slade approach, so i'm happy to see what he can do before we start hammering him for something he may or may not have said.

Let's face it, he's not going to come out and criticise RD as he's unemployed and wants a job and we're quite likely as big a club as he's going to get. Whilst he definitely shouldn't criticise the protests, his comments could simply be that from the outside looking in, he feels that we've got a better chance of succeeding with the fans on board rather than protesting every week. He'll soon learn that that's not going to happen though.

    Carry on protesting?!
  • His relegation and subsequent poor start to the season will be a factor. Anyone can get lucky with a side, especially if it happens to have outstanding players in the squad, Dele Alli to name just one, and there is no guarantee that he will get another job anytime soon. If he fails to get a job before the start of next season he might be finished. Without a career in the game (at league level) he is unlikely to have many contacts.

Even with the current owners we are a big (if not massive) club in this division and what are the alternatives? A mid table team in League Two with no money and a salary that is less than most of us on here earn? If he gets us promoted and we establish ourselves in the Championship he might get offered something better (certainly better than he's being offered now) and if it all goes tits up he will, no doubt, get a pay off and can rubbish the club to protect his reputation - even if he signs a non disclosure agreement as part of exit payment he can still say all this behind closed doors.

Why wouldn't he want the job?

And this is before we factor in that he probably has no knowledge of what is, really, happening at Charlton and, almost certainly, understands it even less!

mogodon......the issue of carrying on with the protests and supporting the team /manager are surely two different things, are they not?

IF what he is reported to have said last night is true, it wasn't the brightest thing to say. But I wouldn't hang him out to dry for that. The real issue here is the Duchatelet & Meire regime. Let's keep attacking them. While they're in control no manager stands a chance.
  • He will be the best appointment they have made, be knows the league, the players in it and has a fairly decent track record.

The game last year that finally convinced me that I was giving up my season ticket was MKD at home. It was a must win for us and we didn't even try to win it. In addition, MKD were the most depressingly cheaty, whingy, negative bunch of losers I'd ever watched and KR strutted around like an utter cock. I made up my mind that night that I didn't like football any more.

All that said, as someone posted elsewhere, I suspect he may be one of those guys who you like much better once he's "yours". I've never liked or respected Slade and his advent was just another pebble in my already groaning bucket. It says something when the best accolade for now I can give KR is "he's not Slade" but every crumb must be cherished.

I wouldn't give the job to Nugent. We need an experienced man at the moment and he's said he doesn't want it. I'm hoping that KR can stand up to the regime but I have my doubts. It's a six month free pass for anyone out of work at the moment in any case. If it doesn't work out he can simply cry what everyone else knows "the regime is bonkers and I never had a chance". We have the makings of a decent team at this level as recent results show so I hope he is able to work his oracle. Of the choices available he is the least bad for me other than Caldwell. As to his supposed views on the protests as per twitter, we'll I'm not sure what the guy is supposed to say. He wants a chance and a fair shout. Welcome Karl. I'll give you a chance. Hope the loonies in charge do the same.

Sounds like Pardew, except big nosed Al was partial to sticking it to a player or two as well...

I think Robinson is a better appointment than Slade. Slade was never going to get us promoted. Robinson has done it with MK and he also came close a few times too. Of course I realise a miss is as good as a mile, but MK Dons were always there or thereabouts and they certainly had worse players than we have now. I guess time will tell, but I'm more positive about Robinson than I was with Slade anyway.
