Thought I'd just have a look to see if I could identify a vacancy on the FA board. (Might even consider applying as I am a woman with a passion for football and lengthy track record in management/ business...)

I copy below an extract from the complex web of the FA Board and committees. There's a lot more via this link: FA Group Board and Committee Membership for 2016 / 2017

  • Very good article.
The emphasis must be that she had/has no idea. Her actions have alienated Charlton fans. She has lied to us. A distinction needs to be made between Rolands misguided actions in owning a football club, and Miere who is incompetent and insulted the fans.

It would be the ultimate insult for her to get that role, based on the number of people who feel excluded from Charlton as a result of her and the oafish little narcissus that employs her.

The FA don't like a scandal and the press sniffing around decisions like this. Can see them knocking the idea of hiring katrien on the head

She's desperately looking for a new role before Roland sells up.

I misread this and initially thought that our old Director Martin Simmonds had arranged for a load of manure to be dropped off at her gaff as a critique of her performance.
  • Well, that should wipe the smirk off her face for a few hours.

    Well played Martin Samuel.
  • I would love her to get the job at the FA. They won't know what hit them. She has proved her incompetence over and over again so, should fit right in. Could be quite a show.

The FA know all about her lack of delivery, lies and lack of time keeping. Oh, and don't forget that 99% of football chairmen don't like her either

With those qualifications she should be head of FIFA.

Can you image her having anything to do with the selection of the next England manager!!!

Why are the Football League bothering with our hapless Katrien when they can choose Carolyn Still of mansfield Town who is younger, prettier and no doubt much better at her job than Ms Meire?

I'm older and uglier but would still be better at the job...

Remember Meire didn't win a vote for a position on the FA Council. No one else wanted her place - although I hear some now wish they had organised against her. When Jez Moxey (Norwich and ex-Wolves chief exec) encouraged her to stand for the FL board it was quickly clear that she would get few if any votes.
  • Having just read the article my best guess is that KM will get the post she is chasing. I have some issues with positive discrimination, but don't like to discuss it as it is an emotive subject, but it does look like the FA's need to attract more women will be enough to overlook her past.

Ironically, given long enough, she might even learn how to do the job she's been given. I can't stand the thought of her being in English Football for the next three decades!

If she needs a reference, then I will gladly pass one on to the FA.

I assume Karen Brady has turned down the roles in the past. She should be first choice.

Not sure she could afford to pay for his lunch, the fat git. Still, Uncle Roly's probably paying.

    Wow! What a superb article!

I am all for women playing their full part in every corner of society, including sport, but it MUST be on merit, not just to tick a box.

Otherwise, by implication, the worth of women who have reached positions of leadership through ability and hard work will be tarred with the same brush as those who depend on nepotism for their advancement.
