Just seen the below article in the Mail... Anyone know who this Charlton fan was and whether he was on here?

http://dailym.ai/2kZeMal

Ed. a fundraising page has later been set up to raise the funeral costs and wipe out Ian's daughters debt

He originally came from orpington and used to go with me and my mates back in the 70s.
Last time I saw him was Southampton away about 10 years ago as he lived on the south coast at the time.
    RIP mate

Just sent this to the club but if anyone knows him and can ask the family then so be it

    Dear Sir/Madam,

I read of was alerted to this story via the daily mail http://dailym.ai/2kZeMal

It appears the deceased was a Charlton fan. Would it be possible to see if the club has any record of Ian's family's contact details to ask their permission to set up a just giving page on their behalf to help fund the costs of the funeral?

Just to be clear, I'm not asking to contact them myself directly, I appreciate all that info is confidential, just asking if the club could act as a go between and ask their permission.

If this okay I would happily set up a just giving page to help.

Thanks for your help in this matter.

    Regards,

    Robert

    Sent from my iPhone

    Would happily donate

No good on you for raising it - this site is very good at this sort of thing. Providing the family have no objections, as I appreciate it's a private matter, I'm sure we can help as a community in no time

OK, been chatting to Beccy, it gets worse, they picked up the story from her friends Uni blog and some of the story is wrong (i.e. the stone at Charlton has of course been there years).

Can someone set up a page or i'm happy to? She owes the funeral director so what we collect can be paid straight to them. She owes them £2,900.

Okay I've never done it, so don't know the rules re: putting it into an account. Anyone know how to do this?

This story shows the deficiencies in the 'benefits' system .. we have a young lady who is learning to be a nurse, intending to enter a difficult and demanding profession .. she has no income to speak of yet is denied money TO BURY HER FATHER in an appropriate manner ..
if she was a chain smoking alki living off state provided cash she would have got all the help and finance necessary to do right by her father .. this shows how out of order is the 'welfare' state and how ripe it is for a wholesale reform and overhaul

Nice one rob lee. I've just donated and tweeted
  • I tried to donate but it wants me to log in via Facebook or set up an account. All I want to do is put in my cc details or pass on some money from my PayPal a/c. This seems overly complicated or am I missing something?

You do have to sign up, but it's quite handy I find as a lot of people use just giving. If you are really stuck I can give you my paypal.
