Bugger, Tredwell out leaving Rouse stranded

Good knock by the keeper though, how does his work with the gloves compare with that of Billings? Could you play Billings just as a batsman?

Rouse is a very good keeper and not a lot between them. However, you would have to drop one of the top 5 and that isn't going to happen at the moment.

Good to have Rouse as a backup in any event. He will get quite a lot of games this year. Billings likely to be in Champions Trophy squad as well as the one day games v both WI and SA.

    Shame Rousey missed his ton.

As for Stevens how was there any debate about his contract renewal? The man is God!

This would suggest he's not quite there with the gloves, in my opinion...

I trust the Canterbury Ultras are taunting him with chants of "Surrey reject"

Good stuff, it also shows the freakish weather this April, that us and Notts have been able to play and win 3 matches as normally rain would have an effect

A great start for the team and for Matt Walker. I would like to think that Jason Gillespie has had a meaningful input so far as the bowlers are concerned and he couldn't have arrived at a better time. Allan Donald will, undoubtedly, have an influence on them too when he arrives.

Credit to the management for getting someone at such short notice of Gillespie's calibre. Matt Walker is a fine coach but it was important that there was a new voice too and to succeed in securing Gillespie was a master stroke.

Once the top order start doing the business we will be even stronger. But 3/3 wins probably means that we might only need to win four or five of our remaining 11 matches to be certain of promotion. Essex won it with six wins last season and we came second with just five and that was a season of 16 matches.

It's such a strange fixture schedule now. 3 games over by the 24th April, then no more for 4 weeks

When was the last time we won 3 on the trot!
