CARD announces plan for tribute to Valley campaigners at 25th anniversary match

Well.. the reaction "elsewhere" has been depressingly predictable. It's really disappointing to read (I don't know why I bother really) and I don't understand why some people can't leave aside personal differences and just celebrate the efforts of our superb fanbase 25 years ago.Uboat said:Nicely done. Only a complete lunatic could object to that.

Well said that man,i also will be attending this game with my wife who has been following Charltons history over the last 21 years and who has done her bit too upset Roland in the past. As for me Charlton is in my blood and i am looking forward to this day out.Addickted said:Thanks CARD.
Despite feeling similarly to both #stig and #superclive98, I have struggled with my decision to avoid this game, but now my mind is clear.
By avoiding the Valley for the past 18 months (with a couple of exceptions) I now need to return to celebrate the 25th anniversary of one of the greatest days of my life and experience it with my son, who missed out on the BTTV game because his chicken pox stopped him attending.
This kind of visible protest gives me the opportunity to celebrate yet make it clear to the owners, that no matter what they do, we are still here and still waiting to return to support our Club,
They are nothing but a blip in our history compared to the traumas of Selhurst and Upton Parks.
Addickted will be good to meet up again and think back 25 years when we sat next too each other in the covered end for that Portsmouth match.9 -

I wonder if she is reflecting the views of her husband's employers.
When this regime depart, which they will one day, what will she do?
Even if her hubby gets kept on? Honestly, how will she be able to show her face???2 -

If there was any one person other than the board who played a crucial part in the return to The Valley it was Peter Cordwell, IMO. Everything else was collaborative and involved many people.cantersaddick said:

CARD you have once again got this spot on...!!! ,
I personally am a boycotter still, but was genuinely swaying towards this game, the significance of it all really & what we as fans & a united club built from the lowest depths of despair,25yrs where has it gone...?,yes it should be & I hope it will be a celebration of all CAFC,forget about the numptys in charge, hope they won't be here for much longer anyways...we must stand together be it in the stands or wherever we are,we all follow the Addicks...we will be around a long time after they have gone...anyways because work won't allow it,I can't get my shift off or get it covered...so the boycott remains...but CARD once again thank you for this little bit of Charlton magic...
Enjoy the game the atmosphere & let's hope it really is the last stand of Douchbag Nightmeire & Co....
Up the Addicks2 -
plenty of lunatics about believe me. 25 years back at the Valley and a nice way to honour all those that helped get us back, sticks and stones will be thrown by keyboard warriors but no Valley Party would have meant no return to the Valley. As I said in my wedding speech when giving my brother a signed shirt from that day it was the greatest moment in our history.Uboat said:Nicely done. Only a complete lunatic could object to that.

Are they going to sign the papers for the sale of the club on the pitch pre-match. Then jump into an awaiting helicopter and depart Saigon style at the end of the Vietnam War?razil said:
Take your point, but its still better than nowt. Plus there may be something more coming.Airman Brown said:
The charity element will be more than offset by extra ticket revenue from the bigger crowd at higher prices.razil said:My view - as others have saidits an opportunity to show old and new owners what our fan power at Charlton is capable of both in the Valley Party of old and in CARD, CASTtrust, FF, today
There's also a charity element to it.
Our club is sickly and on its knees lets roar it back to life, and show them its all about the fans2 -

Please?
Very sad as I was there in the Covered End on the day itself.
If he sells up completely what a shame he didn't do it before that date. Now what a party that would have been.
It'll be a a damned good party anyway, mind.6 -

Agree with the majority of comments. Great touch by CARD
We are forever grateful for those that put a shift and a half in to get us back home. Those still with us and who are passed should be duly thanked and remembered3 -

Pelling old chap, the cost of such a small run is very high.......the profit margin will be very tight.Pelling1993 said:The price of the shirt is absolutely criminal
I agree it’s expensive but I don’t see a rip off here.0 -
Yet fans produced only 1,000 or so protest shirts and sold them for £25 each and still had several £k to donate to charity...SoundAsa£ said:
