That's not an entirely awful suggestion

My only problem with Cillian Murphy is I've seen his penis. The opening of 28 days later shows him laying on a hospital bed with his meat and 2 veg out.

Bond should be more mysterious, that's all I'm saying
  • On Her Majesty's Secret Service - a hugely underrated Bond film.

Roger Moore - played it with a smile

Not an actual theme tune but Louis Armstrong signing "we have all the time in the world" in OHMSS is always guaranteed to get the hairs on the back of my neck standing up.

    No idea!

If SC or RM had done OHMSS it would be considered one of the best and we have all the time in the world is an amazing song.

    For me it’s probably

    Goldfinger

    Sean Connery

We have all the time in the world.

James Bond is white, they would have to do away with bond to have a black 007.

Dr who is different as the Dr regularly regenerates into a different person

The books and films are different entities. Every time they have a new Bond they reboot the franchise. James Bond is the characters name. It isn't a codename. In that context they can do what they like. James Bond can be black, brown or green. It could even be a woman as long as her name is James Bond.

Personally I think the mistake they made was that the 007 and James Bond should have been code names. This would have allowed cameos and passing of the torch moments between old and new Bonds. It would also have allowed each incarnation of Bond to have their own backstories.
  • Seems that Tom Hardy has ruled himself out of the Bond role, Citing the gruelling nature of the industry getting too much. The Bond role is known for its tough effect on the actors. Two hot favourites now are Hiddleston and Elba.

James Bond is a character with a back story, you couldn’t suddenly make him black or a woman or Hindu , 007 is a code name that any character could be given when the previous 007 , dies/retires/joins spectre

Was a massive Bond freak as a kid.

    Favourite film: Probably Casino Royale

Favourite Bond: As a kid, I loved Roger Moore. But now it has to be Connery.

Favourite Theme would be between Golfinger, On Her Majesty's Secret Service and Licence to Kill.

    Next Bond: No idea

Favourite Bond Girl (without using usefulness to the missions as part of the criteria): Solitaire ( :open_mouth: ) or Pam Bouvier from Licence to Kill, post haircut!

OHMSS (one of the best themes to any film, ever. Check out the 1977 version for the filthiest-sounding groove you've ever heard)
    Damian Lewis

Film - Goldeneye (definitely age a factor)
Theme - Honestly, it's Goldeneye again but this is purely because I associate it with the movie
Bond - Sean Connery (closely followed by Brosnan)

Next Bond... I'd go for Michael Fassbender
  • I think Daniel Craig is brilliant by the way. My second favourite behind Connery.

The issue with the names being mentioned above is age.

IMO you need to look at someone in late twenties early 30s.

Someone like Elba may do 2 max before he is to old amd we are looking for someone else again.

If they want a long term bond 5/6 films they need to look at someone younger.

    John Boyega maybe

We've had a black haired bond, a blonde Bond, a brown haired Bond and a Bond with a moustache. You absolutely can have a ginger Bond. So long as he doesn't end up in the desert...

I think Lazenby was the only actor to play Bond in his late 20s and he only did one film. Pretty sure Roger Moore, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig were in their 40s when they first played Bond.

Edit: Just checked and Craig was 38.

I love what they have done with Daniel Craig as James Bond. He's a right grumpy cunt most of the time and has some really deft silly one liners.

What I did find weird is how the films go good, shit, good, shit. Fingers crossed the next one follows that sequence

I was so disappointed with Quantum after the superb Casino Royale but it gets better the more times you watch it. Hopefully I'll think the same with Spectre when I've seen that 3 or 4 times.
Skyfall was the most amazing cinematic event I have experienced since Star Wars in 1977.

Skyfall was excellent, had everything for a Bond film. Casino Royale did too but Skyfall raised the bar

Skyfall was utterly stupid. Genius villain Silva wanted to kill M, that was it, his main goal. So he comes up with this master plan to make her lose her job, send her underground, get captured (all of which is insanely lucky, crashing trains with perfect timing, etc), somehow knows he'll go underground, all the rest, yada yada yada. What was the point? He had explosives in her office, set them off an hour earlier and your goal is achieved!

Skyfall raised the bar certainly, over Die Another Die for ridiculous plot lines and crap villains. Now, I'm not saying other Bond films aren't filled with plot holes but this one took it to a whole new level.

It was a great action movie but it was not a great Bond film.

I was hoping we would have a few FOPs (fans of Partridge) in this group!
