Pretty sure lots of synagogues are armed already, for exactly this reason. They certainly have security.Leroy Ambrose said:

Edit - RIP to those that lost their lives, and thoughts to everyone involved. Senseless.0 -
The attacker shot three armed guards, completely undermining Trump's latest ridiculous statement. What will it take for him to actually recognise guns are the problem? There is a real moral sickness at the heart of America at the moment with the combination of the hateful rhetoric, division and availability of guns. It seems to be getting worse now, with each new outrage somehow accepted and moved on from quickly without ever addressing the problems. Love the country, its people and have family there but it seems to be becoming increasingly deranged.Leroy Ambrose said:

Domestic terrorism. Plain and simple. I wish we went after domestic terrorists and violent Neo Nazis with even half the verve and vigor we've spent pursuing Muslim extremists in the last couple decades.Henry Irving said:
It's absolutely awful. But I fear what we're seeing this week may be the start of a trend rather than the anomaly, though I desperately hope to be wrong.0 -
11 dead. Used automatic weapon and 3 handguns. Pure white supremecist who said even Trump was a "globalist" who was "controlled by Jews." One of THOSE types.
Even though Kashoggi was the big news here 5 days ago, everyone has forgotten it in the wake of the MAGA-bomber and now this. Sad state of affairs.0 -

Was dreading Trump coming out with another ridiculous statement after the latest shooting, at a yoga centre, about arming yoga instructors or something. Difficult to say when it will ever end in the US if there is simply no will to control guns.1

I actually disagree with the notion that labour is antisemitic to the core, and anyone who supports them is allowing anti-Semitism to flourish... But that's the narrative, and if the clueless leader isn't doing anything about it, then this kind of bollocks is doing no favours whatsoever.Henry Irving said:

Now I don't support labour... But I'd favour them over the Tories. My wife is Jewish though... Much like that episode of the Simpsons when sideshow Bob was running for mayor and he had a kill Bart policy. Homer was in a dilemma ("well, I agree with him apart from the kill Bart policy"). But fortunately labour don't have a kill my wife policy, it's just filled with twats who probably have Che Guevara pyjamas.1 -

It's also awful and disgusting that you found a way to use the deadliest antisemitic attack in modern American history as a way to turn it around into your pet cause of how much you hate Jeremy Corbyn's Labour Party.
If he, or significant or even not massive numbers of Labour Party MPs took this approach I'd be standing alongside you. And if they have, please point it out to me. But instead, you've had to go to the Stockton-on-Tees council. My knowledge of local British politics isn't great, but I'm pretty sure there's no saying of "As Stockton-on-Tees Council goes, so goes Britain."
Again, it's awful and disgusting and completely inexcusable. But so is trying to forward your own cause like this.8 -

The shooting was horrific but a so called anti-racist party group couldn't bring themselves to condemn it. Yet you want to blame me for that rather than the racists.
They are anti-Semitic like many in the rank and file and leadership of that party. But that's ok with you, let's have a go at the person pointing that out. There are dozens and dozens of other examples but you don't want to know that.
The irony that you are happy to point out the racism of Trump and others on the US right but are happy to excuse racism in the UK left won't be lost on everyone.
Meanwhile, the leader of the labour party does nothing.
In fact Corbyn and the rest of his cronies from the far left do worse than nothing.
They hide evidence of death threats made by their own members,(now being investigated by the police) they drag their feet about ejecting Jew haters and holocaust deniers from the party and refuse to cut ties with their terrorists, Jew hating friends and openly chant about the destruction of Israel at their conference.
All that helps breed that hate that leads to acts like the tree of life but that's all ok in your book as it's Marxist racists, not republicans and it's only Stockton on Tees not Islington so be a good boy and don't make a fuss, hey.3 -

Obviously a waste of time, it's been pointed out that it's a branch in teeside and this is a thread about American shooting and not UK politically point scoring, but I may get a flag or a private message for my efforts.

Racism is racism unless it's labour party doing it when you and the other labour supporters are allowed to turn a blind eye.

Said it was a waste of time! You don't understand what the Teesside branch did and how the tweet above means you can't blame Corbyn for it. Then another personal attack. Someone fetch the dunce hat.2

To be fair, HI hasn't had to go to Stockton-on-Tees, The Independent has done it for him, because virtually the entire media has a vested interest in ensuring Labour don't win the next election.SDAddick said:Henry Irving said:far right party local party 'voted down motion condemning Pittsburgh synagogue attack'

Now obviously the people involved in this refusal to condemn are twats, but they've obviously become entrenched in one half of a largely fabricated culture war, meaning that when the 'antisemitism' buzzword comes up, their predominant feeling is defensive and wanting nothing to do with it. When push comes to shove, these people almost certainly wouldn't actually oppress or harm Jewish people. I've seen no evidence that the Labour Party would do anything even remotely like that in practice (despite a few bad apples mouthing off).
Now we could either talk about racism by Tory voters, or we could get back on topic.3 -
Please do talk about racism in the Tory party. I condemn it in that party, from Trump, From Yaxley- Lennon, from Hames and from Labour.Leuth said:

Or is it ok to dismiss Tory racism as a "few bad apples" in the same way you can with the Corbyn party?0 -
Depends how many apples!
Labour councils don't help themselves when they mealy-mouth antisemitism - it's a cut-and-dried issue, and they're simply giving their enemies ammunition when they don't stand with Jewish people at times like this.2
