As I've mentioned at various times, there is a Vienna based Addick who is a senior honcho in an investment bank there. In 2014, he came (too) late in the game with a bid involving the Arenacom guys and a Ukrainian oligarch. Apparently Usmanov is his client (for other business) so he took the opportunity to pitch the sale to him. Usmanov was interested enough to look over the sale documentation (knowing full well Charlton's League position). However after reading said documents he replied that he wasn't interested. Period.
I also learnt that Steve spoke with Richard Murray in December. Murray told him that he thought a deal was near but he did not say to Steve that he should back off with other buyers because of this.

This reinforces my long held view that the issue is the unrealistic price that RD is holding out for, and the Aussies have so far been the only party willing to even try to reason with the deluded one. For people like Usmanov, it's not worth them wasting their breath.

The quoted price went up dramatically in December and De Turck knows that because he was the messenger.

Are you able to say what the quoted price was?

Over £70m.

Which sort of proves what I was saying all along. Roland doesn't want to sell the club, what he actually wants is his money back.

Nevermind that he is completely detached from reality if he ever expects it to happen.

I may be falling into the trap of ascribing logic to Roland but what on earth could reasonably be behind that increase in asking price?

I hope the FF members are taking notes. Need to ask LDT the justification for the price increase, why RD is turning away interest and who is spreading lie about done deals when it's clear that no sane person would ever meet Roland's crazy valuation.

Loved when we first got a 239, the air start was so amazing.

A different world to when I joined in 84 that's for sure.

I hope someone asks LDT some very searching questions about this at the FF. I expect that all we’ll get back is lies and platitudes but:

- how long they are going to wait for the Aussies to get sorted

- why RD deterred a fresh bidder with a £70m+ price tag

- whether the recent interest really was reliant on American money, and whether the terms of that included separate ownership of the Valley/SL to ownership of the club.

Are all meaty topics to grill him on.

If he's jacked the price up, then among other things it must mean that the previous EFL ODT becomes invalid, and a new one would need to be submitted.

Something doesn't ring true. If I was very keen to buy the club from a mad man, I would go public on what I was willing to pay and what he is demanding. Of course all these suggestions of an imminent sale suggests the price is reasonable ish at least. If it isn't something stinks.

I think it means that the price went up to over £70m. I don’t think anyone knows for sure what the previous asking price was but the conjecture ranged from £30m to £45m. So he’s banged on another £30m at least. Madness. The prospective buyers must have really pissed him off somehow.
