I doubt Charlton athletic football club is something that he thinks about for most of the time.J BLOCK said:White knows he’s been played, not mentioned a thing in last two weeks
He is not a Charlton fan.
I think we should just appreciate someone giving a sh*t about us for once.
He is just a reporter.6 -
He does not give a flying about us. We were another story for him.Dave2l said:

Tbf though he did go the extra mile with the story.1 -
The Grant sale is a massive sign (to me anyway) that the takeover is still far away
We're in the best position in years to get promotion, with a good team. Roland decides to sell one of the reasons we're up there. Classic Roland.
I'm still #TeamWIOTOS but I don't see it happening until the summer at the earliest.
Oh well9 -
I was told by someone from the club after the match that things were very close to "getting better" ie once the window closes.
Haven't got my head around why the prospective owners would wait until then but I have no reason to disbelieve that information.17 -

If that is true it suggests they don't have much money and are looking to avoid spending any.Fanny Fanackapan said:I was told by someone from the club after the match that things were very close to "getting better" ie once the window closes.

Someone you know.?Someone with solid links to the club in the past?Fanny Fanackapan said:I was told by someone from the club after the match that things were very close to "getting better" ie once the window closes.

Respected football journalist? Former board member? The groundsman? Roland's right hand man?
These people know nothing. Not a jot. That is because the great Belgian hasn't got a scooby either. He might wake up tomorrow and think that's it. I'm shot of it. But he probably won't. Could be a month could be a year.
I believe we will probably know 5 minutes after the cogs in his crack pot head allign and decide it really is time to get out.
So unless you're the nurse that brings him his tablets each morning..or possibly his missus. I'm afraid whatever you think you know..you don't.7 -

Certainly it would be in the interests of the club to appear to still be cash strapped whilst in negotiations. Say for example that the club is all but sold, and the new owners say to Duchatelet to add any purchases onto the sale price and let the market think we are still owned by a tight-fisted duct taper.
edited for spelling and clarity.1 -

Sorry that it appears that some people like to steam in with a two-footed challenge on the messenger.9 -

Thanks for sharing @Fanny Fanackapan it is a 'glimmer' of hope. I also tend to agree with @KiwiValley and their synopsis. If, and yes I know its a big IF, it could be the new owners (whoever they are) are discussing with RD about outgoing/incoming players without showing their hand. That way those players we may be after wont have their price increased because they know we have new owners, then once Friday 1st Feb arrives the takeover happens and we have not paid over the odds? All just supposition, but stranger things have happened in football!! The first 'acid' test will be before Friday however, if Grant goes who do we get in, a young unproven on loan striker from a championship/lower prem side, or a proven striker with experience who would be a great strike partner to Taylor. If its the latter then perhaps New owners are in the offing (i.e decent money spent from Grants sale fee), if the former, then its RD pulling the purse strings still and playing his normal game. Next few days will be interesting, because whichever way the Grant replacement(s) fall, LB will want someone in tomorrow/Tuesday so they can fit in with the way we play.2

#teamWIOTOS but interesting news from Fanny.
Roland is irrational so trying to work out the logic in his decisions is almost impossible.
Maja and Potts left Sunderland and Barnsley and Jones Luton so Grant's predicted departure (not yet on OS) could be seen as just normal business.
Asset out of contract sold so cash could be reinvested = difficult but necessary decision.
Or it is Duchatelet short sightedness. IF Grant goes then the quality of the replacements for him and Ajose will tell us a lot.

from Fanny's source could it be that the purchaser has agreed with RD that the playing budget stays as is and Bowyer has the control as long as he stays in budget, that would square with not revealing a new owner and have purchase prices rise and sale prices decrease - make sense and is a thought that will warm the cockles of heart for at least the next hour.0

Don't understand how new owner would invest in permanent incomings, but do nothing to secure any of the out of contract players. They will have no involvement while RD owns the club.Redmidland said:Thanks for sharing @Fanny Fanackapan it is a 'glimmer' of hope. I also tend to agree with @KiwiValley and their synopsis. Thanks for sharing this. You have to be quite brave these days to post what you’ve heard for fear of being jumped upon by those that just can’t seem to realise that 99.9% of what people hear is posted in good faith. We would all be a lot poorer if everyone kept everything quiet on things they hear.Fanny Fanackapan said:I was told by someone from the club after the match that things were very close to "getting better" ie once the window closes.

As most on here know, my back is broad.....
Guess Red's thoughts on my piece of info( as that's what I believe it to be ) are what I surmised might be a "different perspective" so thanks for that.
I fully understand the scepticism but as I posted last night, I have no reason to question the validity of what I was told and I'm definitely not ITK normally.8 -
Thanks Fanny!
Let’s hope the tingle returns in full force soon xxx2 -

I often wonder if certain individuals working within the club are deliberately being fed false information?
I wonder that too about Jim Whites recent revelations. It’s my firm belief that JW acted in all good faith and genuinely gave out info as to what he thought to be a nailed on deal. So before people start digging him out we need to know the background of where that info originated. Was JW’s source being used as a vehicle to give out false info or was his source the originator of misleading info? Who knows.....but until that can be established IMHO there’s no need to diss JW, who as a sports reporter is looking for a story but also has our best interests at heart as an added bonus/interest. I’m certain he felt a bit of a ass over his mistaken broadcasts, no one likes to look a fool in front of millions of listeners.
I suppose one could say he sounded off before it was verified, but I dare say he won’t be making the same mistake again about unconfirmed rumours, especially when it come to that lying toad Duchatalet .....which takes me back to the first sentence of my post.6 -
In all good faith...It’s happening!0
