The EFL comment has to surely be brought up on TalkSport
How does Jim White get his mate out of that one!!10 -
What a waste of time . Duchatelet lives in cloud cuckoo land . Can't wait for the next FF .1
-
What did we ever do to deserve an absolute frigging idiot like this to buy our club?
Just when you think things cant get more stupid, he comes up with a proposal like that.
Just piss off.
14 -
Sell the club to the EFL.
Sell the club but Roland keeps the valley and training ground.
Still three interested parties.
What a crock of shit .3 -

Tuesday's interview plus the minutes need to go to the EFL.. although I suspect there is notihng they can do. If that Bowyer was slating the EFL he would get a fine and a ban.. but our owner...1 -
Should let Jordan know of this maniacal idea to sell to the EFL - at the least, it will start him discussing it again.1
-
As others have said, RD said the August demonstrations (throwing bags of crisps on the pitch) had put off any potential buyers. LDT said he's still talking to 2 buyers at least fortnightly.
WHO IS LYING ?2 -
I read that and all I could think was WTF. Sell/give the Club to the EFL to run? Now that really is weird. Three parties still interested, two been around for over a year & the other nowhere near being able to conclude a deal. WTF is going on? The common denominator is Roland and he is the only reason a sale hasn't been concluded.
Thanks for all there for standing their ground and not allowing LDT to dictate proceedings or let the vandalism become the main issue.
If Swedish Addicks have a spot at the table I think it's time a place was found for the Ninfield & Battle Addicks ;-))

The comment that the absolutely insane idea of selling the club to the EFL is a good idea as it would mean the the fit and proper persons test would be met surely indicates that this has been the main stumbling block thus far? Apologies if that’s already widely known, hard to keep up sometimes!0

For some time, I have been struggling to sell my house. Some people have advised me that I am asking too much money for it. I don't agree. It's an appreciating asset. And, while it isn't yet worth the £70m I am asking for it, it will be one day. That's how I have set the price.
But now, thanks to the business genius Roland Duchatelet, I have a well-researched and new method of monetising the house. I have decided to sell it to the government. For the full asking price. But, so that the government does not have to find a new occupier for it, I am willing to continue living in it.
Thanks Roland.
This post has been brought to you by the Charlton Life House Sale Analogy Generator, a robotic device which automatically creates a house sale version of the latest mad plot by the Belgian Turing.22 -

Why dont the FF ask if the NDA can be lifted so that the interested parties can come out with their version of events to date rather than anything happening going forward?0 -
On the plus side, it would definitely be hilarious when the EFL failed their own fit and proper persons test because they're as crooked as anyone. Maybe that's Roland's plan. Maybe this whole ownership has just been a very long term exercise in irony. It would at least make more sense than what's currently happening.5

I said yesterday his interview on Talksport showed he is deluded, this 'proposal' is not only a crock of shit and a desperate idea, its confirming to one and all (even the RD can do no wrong brigade) that the man is suffering complete delusion and is bereft of ideas. How on earth can an organisation that oversees 72 clubs on all things football then go and buy 1 club!!! Complete nonsense and utter foolery. I fear that this man will continue to reek havoc on us, without even knowing he is doing it!! We need someone to come in NOW and buy us or we could be in a desperate situation ourselves when out of contract players refuse to sign!! At next Mondays FF we must keep up the pressure and not drop takeover updates, this is now an extremely serious situation where the 1 that owns us has finally lost his marbles!1
-
He is crazy. How would he think the EFL could buy a football club?! All he wants is to stop the losses accrued each month.

though I suspect the uncontrollable laughter would delay a response for a couple of months.
even ackworths proposals are more plausible.2 -
LDT was asked if RD was taking a cut of future player sales in any of the deals. He said he wasn’t.
Don't believe this
He was asked if RD would benefit from future promotions and LDT said he would in one of the deals.
WTF

Seriously, if an owner of a EFL club was found wandering the streets of his home town, naked, screaming in the local lingo "Infamy, infamy, the b*ggers have it infamy!" would the EFL still consider him to be fit to own a club ?4 -
Why doesn't he put his idea to the other 71 EFL clubs and see how the vote goes?6

The FF as a whole objected to the agenda change, resurrected discussion of the real priorities - Sale, and supporting Bowyer - and objected to the graffiti being a 'discussion' point.
It's also fair to say the FF resolved unanimously to:- reject the proposal to sell/give the club to the EFL as unfeasible
- object to any separation of the club from its real estate
- urge the owner to lower his price to sell

I doubt if it is the crisps on the pitch which Roland is fixed on.August was also the month when ROT distributed 2 leaflets to virtually every house in Sint-Truiden, one about dubious aspects of his business/political dealings in S-T and the other one highlighting his failure to pay the Charlton staff bonuses. This gained a lot of adverse publicity for him in the media in Belgium and beyond, and clearly got him very riled.

The only silver lining in the clouds we face is that soon, there will be no-one left to sell. This close season Taylor is the only one he could move on for a sizeable amount of money. (And I wouldn't be at all surprised to see that happen). Maybe when he realises that he faces an ever increasing amount of losses that he can't subsidise by selling players, he will finally see sense and eff off. But I don't hold my breath waiting for that.2 -
Did anyone question LDT as to how this 'proposal' would ever be legally allowed?
1 -
we pointed out the likely conflict of interest as a starting point, but to be honest it was so utterly bizarre and almost surreal, it was hard to know what to say/where to look..8
-
First off, well done and thank you to the FF reps who attended last night. It seems to me you achieved a lot:
1. Asserted fan authority over the agenda of the meeting
2. Robustly defended Charlton fans over the vandalism issue, when it is far from clear who really did do it, and then dismissed it from the agenda.
3. Took a unanimous view in rejecting any proposal to separate the club from the stadium and training ground "assets".
4. Coaxed out news of the unbelievably stupid idea that the EFL would be offered to take over and run the club (and managed to suppress the hysterical laughter, apparently)
5. Got LDT talking about the takeover (which they really didn't want to do)
6. Committed them to another meeting to discuss playing matters.
That's a pretty good night's work. And well worth the wait for the minutes because we now have an agreed record of the nonsense that is spoken there.
As far as the takeover is concerned, I have no doubt that RD is genuinely anxious to sell and that LDT is trying hard to progress things. The risible offer to fans and the laughable approach to the EFL seem to me to indicate very strongly that we are getting into the final stages. They must know by now that the Aussies and the mysterious Brits are never going to follow through. They are getting desperate and I hope and suspect they are close to despair. That might just lead to a more realistic view on price.19 -
I believe that RD is on the spectrum. He believes he is right no matter what, he cannot rationalise and has zero empathy with those around him and those he affects . We have now witnessed him (thanks to Simon Jordan) in a live situation, where faced with reality and common sense he raises a barrier that no one can cross.
I don't think we can win by going to war with him. I believe it is incumbent on those close to him to nurse him through it. I assume LDT is an intelligent man? And yet he is prepared to relay a crackpot idea about the EFL taking over. While there are people around him taking his money and sucking up there can be no progress.

There are no viable interested buyers. It's all fiction to get peace.1 -
