  • Perhaps @LouisMend or Cawley should contact the EFL for comment on Roland's proposal to them.
Louis won't do it. He's sulking because Rich didn't use his tweets (PL/UEFA/NASA takeover) in the SLP article.
I agree with him. Would've added balance to get a Palace fans perspective.

Oh, for the sake of common decency, ditch the 'I've been going for years and it's in my blood' line and walk away from this farce. A very rich man likes losing money no less than a poor man does. Perhaps the rich dislike it more.
Take solid, collective action, like the Blackpool fans did. Stay away and let him fester.
  • The EFL comment has to surely be brought up on TalkSport

How does Jim White get his mate out of that one!!
Not just TalkSport. Feed it to the BBC.

This is becoming more and more bizarre. If RD was once regarded as a fit and proper person to buy the club, clearly by his thought process that is no longer the case. Whilst I accept the EFL would argue this is not their domain, they really should be doing everything they can to persuade RD to lower his price and take a haircut.
  • ...and Richard Murray, the voice of the fans, remains missing.
You would have assumed that RD would have shared his out of the box proposal with Richard Murray who presumably would have told him it just wasn't feasible to sell to the EFL. Called me an old fool if you like, but it would appear Murray is not consulted on anything.

I will be amazed if the national press don't pick up on this 'proposal'
Better still if the Belgian press run with it.
Just tweeted this, retweets might help get one of them to run it

Good idea - I'm not on Twitter (or Facebook), but it would certainly be helpful if those all those who are (including the various CAFC protest groups) could get this going.

Let's just suppose there was unanimous agreement at the Fans' Forum with the proposal to sell the footballing side of the club to the EFL. What next? For shits and giggles should have said yes.

Do they think that all they need to progress with the idea is Fans' Forum backing? Why do they even think they need any backing from fans? Never been much interested before. And, more obviously, what makes them think the EFL can own and operate a club? What gives him the idea that they'd even want to? Is there no one in Roland's orbit that says, "Roland, don't be stupid"?

The only thing that makes even a little bit of sense is that Roland thinks that by proposing this idea he'll stick it back to the EFL for questioning is handling of the bonuses etc. Drag them into the conversation of ownership, and expose them as not wanting to be in his position. It's not flawless logic, but it may make sense in his head.

I think he’s sort of filing for bankruptcy and sees the EFL as his lenders.

The EFL have been contacted for comment, we’ll see what happens.

So that's it, nothing of any substance really, there was no genuine proposal, EFL and lease of ground was laughably dismissed by all present, any suggestion of splitting the ground from the club was rigorously opposed and the graffiti was refuted, mainly so we could quickly move onto the sale of the club, this remains the most pressing matter as Barnie insisting right at the start.

There is no real news but those present were unanimous in suggesting that Roland should lower his price and sell.

But he's not going to is he?

Who knows but what other outcome do you expect? Should we have said, we know he is not going to sell so whatever? I am not sure what you are suggesting so may have mis-interpreted you post. If its that the FF meetings are a waste of time then I am still not sure myself, it certainly feels like it at times.

How could supposedly intelligent businessmen contemplate that the governing body of a group of football clubs, responsible for rules and enforcing fairness, could possibly buy one of the clubs within its durastiction?

Because they are both complete bellends? Why are the Forum (or anyone else) even bothering communicating with these people? They are completely mad - or just taking the piss and laughing up their sleeves at us! This idea must be shared with the sporting media - I wonder what Jim White's take on this would be?

I have never heard anything more ridiculous in my life. Even if Roland was offering to sell the whole club to the EFL, it couldn't buy it. It has responsibilities to all of its members and can't have a special interest in one club. But what is even more bizarre is the suggestion that Roland keeps the bit that is worth something and somebody else picks up the losses. Losses that are greater due to his mismanagement of the club.

If it wasn't so serious it would be funny!

Definitely the one we want. Roland has made it clear he doesn’t care what’s said in British media, where as people in Belgium reading about his delusions will anger him

We all know it already, but surely those on the outside must see that this bloke is not the full ticket anymore. If people ask me why we are so keen to get rid of our owner, I always reply, because he is genuinely, totally off his rocker and a threat to the club I love.

Walfoot are referencing his Talksport meltdown rather than today's. Good start though. Should be all over Belgium soon.

Of course if the comments of the Sint-Truidne police, that they don't think a British national would have posted such graffiti gain traction too, his humiliation will be complete. Which is at least some cause for satisfaction in the ongoing madness
  • So is the next Fans Forum meeting this Monday .

has the agenda been set , will you be able to discuss this madness
  • There’s thinking outside the box, then there’s thinking so far away from that box the only inhabitants of planet Roland could contemplate.

PWR, so apologies if this has been covered.

One for the trust members, but has a fans consortium ever been seriously considered for buying the club? I know there are a lot of things we'd need to go through, and raising the money to maintain the operating costs, let alone the asking price, would be difficult and I don't know that we could do it.

It might be worth it to try and force Roland's hand. He is not negotiating from a position of strength. His only ploy seems to be to hold the land (which he can't develop anything drastically different on) hostage until we're in a better position financially. But I feel like a fan consortium would really put him under pressure to just give it all away and walk away.

Even if we could get to a purchase price, the operating costs would be impossible without a serious backer.

But the big issue is the same as it has always been in that Roland's price is not realistic.
  • If the E.F.L came to the conclusion that Roland was a fit and proper person to run a football club, one wonders if the E.F.L. are fit and proper people to be making such judgments.
