This is true. Karlan has only ever got one assist from playing anywhere that wasn't CF.

Seems Karl was wrong about Karlan being able to play on the wing...

You see, this could cause another mini debate but I am prepared to say it.

One of Grant’s best attributes is his pace, he is so quick I don’t think people realise just how quick he is. His willingness to run in behind players and at them now is going to cause any defence problems, especially with his pace.

Now, he isn’t as quick as Theo Walcott ever was but in my opinion he is technically better than Walcott. He is for sure a more natural finisher and I’ve seen Grant score a few free-kicks for example, he seems to have a bit more about him with the use of the ball than Walcott.

So in theory, would Grant not have a decent chance of making it at the top level and play regularly? I’m not saying he will play for England or actually ever be as good as Walcott was in his career at one stage for example. But he certainly has attributes that could benefit the national stage. My point is Walcott has made a Premier League career for himself, but overall I feel if you compare how one another are/was at 21, Grant has an overall more about him, in my opinion, than Walcott did. Grant has scored 3 times for an awful Huddersfield side in 7 games. Walcott scored 4 in 30 for a decent Arsenal side at the same age.

Now I am prepared to get criticism as Walcott has played a lot for England and in the Champions League etc. My point is Grant could look at his career and have belief he could do something similar, not as good, but use it as a positive influence and belief.

He is a more natural finisher than Walcott, that was the point I was making. The likelihood is he will never be as good as Walcott, nor have the level of success that he has had. But as so much of Walcott’s game is and was based so much on his unbelievable speed, I believe Grant has a bit more to him than his raw pace.

I also would love to know how many under age games you saw Grant play because I have seen a fair amount in the past and can remember him scoring a few free kicks. I never once said he scored any for the first team.

His first goal against Arsenal may have been an own goal, but fact is the Premier League awarded him the goal, that’s what the stats will now always say.

I wouldn’t expect you to come with any other response and as said, I am prepared for any criticism. But at least recognise the point being made and don’t pick out sections you want to see and interpret. 

People seem to have forgotten one of his final games for us when he missed 3 one on ones.

Once he scored, his goals dried up and he wasn't performing as well in training hence being dropped when we were relegated. It was in that 16/17 Season that he really struggled to get into the side and was clearly not favoured by the management team. It irritated many of us that he wasn't kicking on and that can have only have been down to himself... And possibly KR's management.

It seemed it was only the threat of having to live in League 2 that kicked his rear into gear. 

He certainly has proven this season that his time at Crawley last season wasn't a one off and I can only see him continuing to grow and improve as a player. 

That and being 18 or 19 and still learning the game,  as he is today

Maybe not, but then who would have thought Callum Wilson would ever play for England when he was a 21 year old putting in goals for L1 Coventry? Wilson took a similar route, having a good L1 season and then signing for a (then) low-end Premier League team. He's hit decent enough form 6 years later to squeeze into the squad, even if it was only short-term. How about thinking the non-league Jamie Vardy and Charlie Austin would get call ups? Things change very quickly in football, and our current policy tends to be towards calling up players if their form is good enough rather than having a pecking order. Though by the time Grant is a bit older we might have chucked Southgate and replaced him with someone who picks a more rigid squad so who knows. I think Grant qualifies for Scotland as well, so if his form's good enough - and that is the key - they might call him up briefly just to keep him as an option in the future.

They were alright till Christmas last season but have been shocking ever since.

Mid table beckons and Karlan Ahearne-Grant not getting 10 goals next season.

Firstly, they will have huge amounts of money to compete at the top end of that division.

Secondly, his name is Karlan Grant, there is no Ahearne anymore.

Finally, if he is played regularly throughout the Championship, I would say he will get double figures, everything he has done in the last year to 18 months points that way. Don’t write him off.

Genuinely no idea why you're so keen to keep putting him down.

The fact is he's 21, playing and scoring in the premier league, picking up around 20k a week, and we're a worse side without him.

He may only play there until the end of this season, but he may well play there again in future, and regardless he can still say he's done it, which is a lot more than most and a far cry from the league he was playing in 12 months ago.
