Play abandoned for the day! Unfortunate that our game seems to be the only one being played in the wetter west of the country

I’ll take a washed out first game all day long. Need some points on the board!

Umpires inspection at 11, so we won't even start on time today!

  • If April last year is anything to go by, 63 for 2 would be enough to declare at Canterbury.

I imagine the conditions are rather bowler friendly

A tough game especially for Renshaw and Kuhn, who've had no practice game back in England

I saw a few comments laughing at the prospect of Claydon bowling in Div 1, but he answered them with a 5 for today!

Kent 84/2 (one of them the nightwatchman) in reply to 171 all out

Claydon with a performance of 5/46 almost counts as his best ever 1st class performance which currently stands as 6/104.
WiTH Claydon and Stevens bowling half the overs this must represent some sort of record for age of bowlers

Now 98-4, DBD and Kuhn at the crease
  • 160-6 now so a decent 1st innings lead looks very doubtful.

DBD still there on 32....that's probably the kiss of death now !

Let's hope we can get a bonus point!

    9-2, both to Stevo
Two potential match winners at that - Tresco and Hildreth

Hildreth at 34 is the youngster of that group, with Stevo nearly 43 and Tresco 43 already!

Hildreth is batting at 3 now to try and secure an Ashes spot in that position.

If Claydon and Stevens can get him out cheaply I fear for him against the likes of Starc and Cummins.

    17-3 one to Claydon

Edit - it was Podmore not Claydon

17/3, suddenly the prospect of a win becomes a possibility, though knowing Kent, chasing 76 to win we'll be bowled out for 62...

At minus 21-3 it's time for Fanny to put away those rain dancing shoes me thinks.

He failed against world class pace bowling today, but that shouldn't affect his ability to score runs off Australia
