Fantastic end to the day for us. At 275-3 Dickson ran out Cook for 125 and Essex then collapsed to 303-8 at close of play.

The equivalent of scoring an own goal after 5 minutes...

They are making us work hard for our runs - we've had one scoring shot in the first 6 overs.

    99-5

DBD and Kuhn now departed. Not looking good and need another big innings from Ollie.

Matt Henry's figures today against the WI were 9-0-107-2

I believe that's known in the trade as "buying wickets"

A strange match, I imagine the change in the weather has had an effect as today is a lot more overcast.

That and Essex having Sir Alastair Cook batting yesterday!

133-8, 31 still required to avoid the follow-on.

Podders and Milne currently at the crease.

All eight wickets are down to catches, four to the 'keeper and three to Bopara. I'm assuming that at his age Ravi is fielding in the slips and letting every other bugger run about for him, so that would make seven wickets caught behind the stumps.

Ball moving about a bit or just woeful batting by everyone?

Frustrating that 6 players got to 15, but nobody has got more than 28

A shame about the rain, it'll make it more difficult for Kent to get the win, I guess we'll have to settle on the draw  :)
  • In your dreams!,.  If the rain holds off, Essex win (although they do snatch defeat from the jaws of victory)
  • Am I right in thinking only one team goes down from div 1 this season?

I think it depends on who finishes where.

If we finish second-from-bottom the ECB will change it to two down.

    Day Four update:

Joe departs, Kent now 50-2 requiring another 288 runs to win with eight wickets in hand off a minimum 72 overs.

DBD joins Dicko (19*) in the middle ...

    Lunch:

    60-3, Heino 5*, DBD 4*

65 overs left to defend in the day for the draw, an unlikely target of a further 278 runs to win.
