The exodus has not surprised me.
I'd rather be struggling in the championship than be a mid-table league one side.
Let's see what the signings look like in 6 weeks time, we haven't even returned for pre-season yet.2 -

The medium to long term will be to be a fully established in the Champ. Then we can aim higher.Maybe not kicking on if the old fart is still there. But in relation to next season. I reckon with the Valley and Bow and co.. I feel we will comout ok in the end even though I feel a relegation battle is likely.2

The thing is calling it an exodus makes it sound like perhaps many of the squad have refused to play for us, demanded transfers and left.
The truth is Bauer has gone, Aribo looks like he's gone & Williams has probably gone.
Many of the others were on loan, so why does this seem a surprise to some ?
If the Premier League loanees are to return, it would be late in the window, as it is every year.
All the rest have gone because Bowyer, JJ & Gallen don't want them.
Perhaps some fans would be happier if we had retained players that aren't even good enough for L1 ?
Bowyer & Gallen have got their work cut out and it will be very difficult, but they and the players are just about to return from holiday.
I'm content to see what they can achieve when they all return from their holidays.
I don't see that as unreasonable.7 -

If Bowyer and gang were to have gone things could have collapsed like a pack of cards.2 -
Phillips, Sarr, Morgan, Taylor and Djiksteel (not necessarily RB) possibly Bonne and Page will be quality in the Championship. We just need to fill a few holes.0

as has been said on here multiple times, player's contracts generally expire at the end of June and that's when most frantic biz will be done .. there are a lot of players on and coming onto the market who will ask for a lot more than they are really worth and will get a dose of 'wages reality' right across the EFL .. and there is still well over a month before the off at Blackburn

But then, we can't be sure Bowyer will even stick with a diamond as his plan A.

Look on the bright side, if we’d lost at Wembley, we’d still have lost Bauer, Aribo, Williams etc plus Taylor wouldn’t be hanging around and we’d have zero chance of getting Cullen and Bielik on loan again.
We’d be rebuilding with no investment for a season in League 1 where we’d no doubt be fighting to stay in that division, playing in the 1st round of the FA Cup and playing under 23 sides in the check a trade trophy.
If Bowyer can pull of a few more decent loan signings, the youngsters continue to step-up, a couple of steady buys and team morale like we had last season, we may just surprise a few in this division and stay up.
lets get behind Bow and the boys, hope and pray that we get sold soon and get a bit of luck next year as I still think Wembley was just the start of a journey that’s taking us in the right direction...9 -
My opening post was not negativity for the sake if it so please drop that kind of nonsense. I was expressing regret that even winning at Wembley to get promoted was not enough to keep a bit more of a supposedly strongly bonded squad together.
I suppose I was falsely optimistic that the chance to be a part of Charlton having a run at the Championship would be enough to keep Bauer, Aribo and possibly others. But of course Roland has not given Bowyer the resources to do so. Yet again it is major rebuild time and spending the first few matches trying to learn who is who. Promotion hasn't changed that.0 -

Little will change until the Rattenfanger von Hameln does what he was paid to do ......

Must be the first preseason that we have gone into with a permanent goalkeeper, since Roland has arrived.0

Everyone keeps chucking around we will sign 4/5 but will that 4 or 5 be adequate replacement sometimes quality over quantity, I know a few of us fancied tom eaves but he hasn’t been tested at this level0

Winning at Wembley in the way we did was never going to be about what it meant for transfer activity etc.
It was purely about seeing Charlton win at Wembley, in an incredible last minute moment - whatever happens/doesn’t happen next shouldn’t taint that moment at all.2 -

Obviously it’s too early to have any idea what the squad will be like come cut off day
but with The Helmet still currently in control it will be a big ask to stay up and to me would be a much better achievement than the promotion we just achieved.
0% Autos ....... 0.5% 3rd-6th ........ 5% 7th-12th .......... 55% 13th-21st .......
39.5% Relegation
100% Roland Out
hopefully new owners in with enough time to make a difference!1 -

It could of been scored by someone that’s just signed for the scum on a 4 year deal and it wouldn’t taint it for me. Nothing ever will.7

So what, we might go down, we might be mid table, we might make play offs.
There's more important things in life and you have to grab these special moments and remember regardless.
I'd have been more pissed off if I hadn't watched that team bond and make small in roads every week at home every game last season to actually see how we got there.4
