I can see how gun controls can work in American cities but how does banning firearms work in rural communities where there's no chance of the police being nearby to defend you?0 -
these days i usually avoid reading or watching on mass media mans inhuman acts against their fellows but last week on one of the channels i watched a crime program. It was the story of the shooter in 1966 who took over the viewing platform at a university in Texas.
First he stabbed his wife, then went to his mus and stabbed her. He left long notes at both scenes saying he had uncontrolled rage--he didnt know why-- it was getting worse-- and he had pains in his head. He killed the only 2 people he loved. Then packed food and drink , 5/6 hand guns rifles etc and walked to the viewing tower.
He killed the female attendant by smashing her head in then set up to wait for the University to decamp , where hundreds of students would be below him. However a family turned at the viewing platform--- he shot the mum 3 kids and the aunt with a shot gun. Then he started with the sniper rifle.However t5he time he took killing the family meant the square below was nowhere near full of students
The police only had hand guns and had to get through his firing up the stairs and onto the platform-- they shot him dead.
He killed 16 or 19 and wounded many many more.
In one of his letter he asked that they look at his brain as he didnt know why he was doing it. They found a tumour. As said on the program many people have tumours but dont do what he did. He was an ex marine which is where he learnt his sharpeshooting.
This was 1966 and the first mass shooting. The programs stance was this mass murder showed the way for scum bags to copy its rage and mass murder.

but is hasn't made any difference has it, all the time you have got people that honestly do not see a problem with them, the remote communities etc you are going to struggle, its difficult because its kind of a one for all law, but why should a farmer miles from civilisation not allowed to have guns, i agree cities should be gun free but its a complete minefield to implement.1StevieG said:

The US constitution was written in 1787- obviously the world has changed a lot since then but for some reason the US has failed to notice.
The world the second amendment was written for bears no resemblance to the modern world and circumstances have changed.
Guns make things more dangerous - most stats on gun use in the US are pretty alarming.

Without sounding like an unfeeling nasty person, i get no emotion to these shootings anymore. It is sad but sorry that is how i feel honestly i hardly even listen to it on the news as i know another will happen next week probably.
I was more shocked and felt sick hearing about the little kid thrown off the Tate at the weekend. It really disturbed me as a parent.
I dont mean to sound selfish, i probably do, but gun crime in US has been happening for so long and nothing changes. It makes me think it is up to to them then, they face these consequences if they want the law to remain as it is. I think i am becoming imune to shootings in America and that is quite sad9 -
Quite staggering coming from the person that rolled back laws that would ban those with mental health issues owning firearms now saying that there must be mental health reform. He should practice what he preaches and stand down.4
