Their squad for their game in March of this year is the most recent on Wiki.golfaddick said:
I have no idea who plays for them or which leagues those players play in, but I doubt many will be in a higher league position than our Lyle. The Championship must be one of the best & most competitive "2nd tiers" in the world. And we are 2nd.paulie8290 said:Montserrat game starts at 8PM cant see team news anywhere yet

Majority of that squad play in England but of those, only Lyle for a League club.
highlights include Welling, Bromley & Hythe1 -
Yes it is.Mendonca In Asdas said:Is that Lyles bro playing as well?1 -
Montserrat won 2-1 Lyle Taylor didn't score.1

Very good 2-1 win for Montserrat, Dominican Republic were favourites going into the game.
No goals for Lyle tho2 -
Just hope he didn't pick up an injury.paulie8290 said:Very good 2-1 win for Montserrat, Dominican Republic were favourites going into the game.

There's probably people on this forum who will play in front of bigger crowds today.0

Lyle is now miles above the level of the other players in that game, I don't know how he approaches Montserrat matches0

Probably it's a nice break with guaranteed sunshine, a good craic with a good bunch of lads mostly based in the UK .... and he gets to see his Grandma.killerandflash said:Lyle is now miles above the level of the other players in that game, I don't know how he approaches Montserrat matches

Looking into their history they've clearly improved a lot in a short space of time.
In 2002 they were the worst ranked side in the world.
In 2004 they lost 13-0 to the mighty Bermuda!
In 2008 they lost 7-1 to Surinam.
And according to wiki in 2012, they played a friendly at the Valley against a Network Rail XI...........and drew 4-4. Seb was probably there.1 -
Are you suggesting that Montserrat could be the opposition at The Valley, when we play the next Charlton Life charity match for Demelza?
Who wants to mark Lyle Taylor?

I know we have a reputation when it comes to trains, but having Network Rail playing a game at our ground takes it to new levelsChris_from_Sidcup said:Looking into their history they've clearly improved a lot in a short space of time.

Lyle takes his Monserratt games and role very seriously.
He spoke a lot about it in depth at Bromley Addicks on the family links and the importance of the team to rebuilding the country.6 -
It would be good to offer the UK based Monserratt players training facilities at Sparrows Lane and the Valley.3

Certainly sounds like they're progressing well within CONCACAF since the introduction of the Nations League!!0

It is a shame that the Caribbean Islands do not try and pool their resources in the way the West Indies Cricket team do. That would be a competitive team.
I suspect Fifa wouldn't allow that1 -

The Wikipedia page for Montserrat includes Lyle Taylor as one of its notable people!
Montserrat is a minnow even within the Caribbean. As Henry says above, the players (who are mainly British) enjoy the social and cultural aspects of playing for MontserratRichard J said:It is a shame that the Caribbean Islands do not try and pool their resources in the way the West Indies Cricket team. He loves to play for them.2 -
We all hope Jonny Williams come through unscathed in their friendly tonight as he is starting ahead of Gareth Bale.2
-
Kayal and Hemed on the bench for Israel as well. Only just spotted but Kayal got 30mins in their match a few days ago. Hopefully he can get some more minutes to come back and be in contention2
