Just woken up in chilly California to this. Ecstatic.

Got to give it to Lee Bowyer. This group has been around for years but hadn't made a move for us. But, I'm convinced they've been able to see the potential of Charlton Athletic by what Lee Bowyer AND THE FANS have achieved over the past few years. The passion of the fans with CARD and all that but the crowning moment has been last season and 40,000 at Wembley, and this season with our fantastic start (now blighted by injuries). They can see the potential in the club, the fans and Lee Bowyer.

This is exciting stuff. Trying to keep my feet on the ground. With Bowyer, Jacko and Gallen at the helm. What a base! And, the statement mentions the fans, the history of the club and that the new owners are custodians. I know there's often PR bullshit but this just feels right.

    In Bowyer we trust.

    Ecstatic.
How do you know they’ve been around for years?
What!! Do you think they've just got their money and they're new to business? Highly doubt it. We've been on the radar more and they've noticed us and our potential. That's what I'm saying.

Without a doubt, I never said otherwise just that the goings on at SL were a warning to us.

For absolute clarity is this super super  super rich man the owner or is his merely very rich right hand man the owner?
  • All together now, Jingle bells, Jingle Bells, jingle all the way, oh what fun it is to see that Roland’s gone away !

Wow, is this our new owner? Short interview I found on YT from a year ago. Speaks fluent English! Graduated from Colorado State University, in the US. Calls it "my organization." So it appears the buck stops with him. I like the fact his colors are red and white. :#

I think this is the new guy:

And I like the cut of his jib.

Where's Muir in all of this?
Still trying to get a consortium with the money to buy us from the new owners when they're bored of winning everything.

They really are complete imbeciles aren't they? It's actually quietly depressing that these people are allowed to mix in with the rest of civilisation - total pond-life.

Apparently there were two parties going at it and these guys happened to get it over the line first.

Will be interesting to watch where Kenyon ends up and how that pans out.

I first heard the news of the takeover at 0930 yesterday morning and I wept uncontrollably for some 20 seconds and couldnt speak with any control to my wife for a similar period thereafter. All the pent up emotion of a 5 year old self exiled boycotter boiled over, with the recognition that I could resume a Saturday lifestyle that had previously consumed my life since 1953 and one that I doubted whether or not I would live long enough to witness that resumption. I immediately packed an overnight bag and drove the 90 miles to Charlton for an overnight stay. I am writing this at 0554 this morning, too excited to sleep.

I cant imagine that those supporters who chose to continue watching Charlton home games in the Duchatelet era (and this is NOT a dig at their stance) would experience an emotion-surge at them hearing the news because, putting it simply, very little changes. Their match day preparation for today and the next home game and the one after that is exactly the same as that for the last home game, the one before that and the one before that. Even less of an emotional surge for those who attended home games under the tired old mantra "support the team, not the regime". Simply put, it doesnt matter what the make up, or aspirations of any regime might be, they go only to support the team.

Finally, however you feel today, enjoy the game - I certainly will.

    Love this, welcome back buddy.
  • For the sake of future Valley Dinners, what date should be celebrated. 29th November 2019 or the date the EFL clears our new owners or the day old and new owners exchange contracts?

    Welcome home Peter.
The numbness and shock of yesterday is finally subsiding for me and today is one of pure joy.
I agree you may feel a bit more emotional than me, but only by a smidgen.
I feel like how Del & Rodney would have felt, if they finally woke up one day and they really were millionaires (in our case billionaires).

Welcome back @PeterGage I'm happy for everyone who has Cafc in their heart.
I believe 100% the passion of the fans at the Valley, in Away games and the play off semi final and culminating in the Wembley final under Lee Bowyer made the decision for the UAE consortium to be our custodians.

This is the time for a united CAFC where everyone from Owners, CEO, Directors, admin staff, ground staff, Players, and Lee Bowyer, coaches and fans dovetail to make us all proud to be fans of this great football club.
Charlton till I die. Not for a while, so we can experience this journey together.
    Enjoy the ride folks.

5th December for EFL clearance would help with this!

Have we been taken over by a Dustman?
Not sure I like the sound of this.
This is really naff, as are references to tea towels.  For fecks sake, people, show a bit of respect to those of a different race or culture.

(For your information, Bin means 'son of' and the Al ... at the end is usually a reference to the person's home town or region).
It was a joke, lighten up. Suddenly You're Mother Theresa @Addick Addict ? I know what 'Bin' means. I'm as pleased as the next man!
It wasn’t a joke. Jokes are funny.

It doesn't really matter does it? The big win is that he has cleansed us of Roland Duchatelet. Whoever the money is, he's paid a tidy sum to secure the future of the club and will have the funds under EFL directives to run us for five years at least. It does look like we will be able to compete financially in the Championship and for that we should all be grateful. We now need to show some respectful restraint towards the owner and be patient. As we have discovered, everything comes to he who waits.
