  • Or more effectively?
Exactly this. Doesn’t matter how much money you are worth unless you spend it wisely.

According to Bowyer, our boys struggled with access to a good surface to play/train on.
Yet the the rugby club have beautiful pitches just over the back, once again I would question Rolands priorities and I don't believe they were the Charlton Athletic football club. ;)
Some may say we were only worth 2% of his attention, certainly not up there in terms of his priorities.

Still confident the Sheikh is involved... If Nimer is worth 500mill he's not going to spend over a tenth of his wealth, and that's before we talk running costs and signings, on buying a second division football club 7,000km from his home.
Wasn't it also said this was the group that wanted to buy newcastle? What's Ashley's asking price 250? No way he would spend half

This is why I also asked what is the make up of the rest of ESI? The Sheikh could be involved certainly, I don't however believe we'll be as rich as we thought.
  • £500m? That's less then Roland.
    To spend in Jan 😂
    I’m good with that.
To be honest, 5 million on 3-4 players with Gallens talent would do us quite adequately

+ getting the contract situations out.

If you're still on about the billions, I think you're going to be upset. Nimer is worth several hundreds of millions. I'll settle for around 500 million I guess. We'd still be competitive in this league with that money.
I’m not expecting us to be the next big thing.

I am however expecting them to support the management team with enough to keep us up.
in the summer I’d expect investment to make us a realistic playoff contender.
    Thats all I’d ask
  • If Nimer is personally worth £500 million as suggested above then buying Charlton and getting the team promoted to the PL which I presume is the plan will cost him around 20% of his wealth. That’s a big chunk to take on.

My guess is the EFL are questioning the source of funding because it’s not clear it’s all coming directly and solely from TN. If that’s true and it’s a guess by the way then it does throw up the question as to who else is financing the deal.

  • Having read the articles about ESi and their friends in the new edition of VoTV I think it might be out of the previous pan and into the fire, keep digging EFL!
I agree it’s not fully transparent but I don’t get the same negativity from the articles.

Bottom line, we just don’t know.

I’m also unclear as to where this £500 million actually comes from. The only figure I have seen printed is several hundred million. That implies to me more in the region of 2 - 300 million. Which makes a significantly bigger impact on his total wealth.

Several hundred million would surely be more than 300 Million, it implies more like 7-800

Not sure 2-3 is several - nearer 6-7 I would guess.

Maybe he's got a Christmas bonus from his boss! (who I still think is involved).

Agree when has several ever been a few?

I used £500m as a conservative number. I usually expect 6 or 7 when someone says several.
  • My bad I think. I’ve always taken several as 2-3 but it seems I’m wrong. At least it’s better than I thought not worse.

  • @ShootersHillGuru, a couple is two, a few is three so more than three but probably in the 4 -7 range (although six would be half a dozen).

Semantics was obviously the next step for this thread. Although, saying that, it is pretty much all it has been
  • I prefer my real ale to be chilled as otherwise it can get too lively when poured (especially bottle conditioned). Outside this time of year tends to be cool enough (especially as the fridge is too full with turkey etc anyway) but no way can it be drunk at room temperatures, especially in a centrally heated house
Just a thought - if possible leave it outside in the garden?
