I guess what he means (but cannot bring himself to say) is that he fears injury could deprive him of a big money move. We know he was ready to be off to Brentford in summer, and then, having knuckled down, he got what he said was the worst injury of his career. Before anyone starts, I am not defending his refusal to play. But to say, as someone did above, that he is made of glass, is just re-writing history. And of course, IMO he wasnt the only one to have these thoughts because he’s not the only one with big money at risk. His agent too, missed out on a big payday in summer and will do anything to make sure he doesn’t miss out again.3 -

Can understand his decision and the rationale but think it's extremely cowardly, spineless and hugely disrespectful to the club and fanbase.
He's acted like an utter mug here and we shouldn't waste another thought on him. He's not as good as his ego thinks and lost a huge amount of respect for him.
He can enjoy his extra few quid now and jog on as a non entity.
