Booked up when they were open before lockdown IISoundAsa£ said:Is Due Amici still going?
Still cant decide if I love Due Amice or not. Had some amazing food in there, but also some naff stuff.0 -
Due Amici is still cracking. Went when it re-opened post LD1 and just before it had to close again.
Am meant to be there Christmas Day but that probably will be cancelled now.
Love a long Friday lunch there....1 -
+1 for the Bengal Lancer. People of Chislehurst are spoiled for choice when it comes to Indian food, but the food at the Bengal Lancer is unbelievably good. Pricey though.Rob7Lee said:
you tried the Bengal lancer?Huskaris said:Having recently moved to Chislehurst and tried more or less every takeaway....
Mountain View (Indian) is very good.
So is Cray's Fish bar
"Knowing Meat knowing you" is very good (they only operate Thurs-Sat
Carved Dive in Bromley does fantastic burgers, although the menu is incredibly limited.
I Love Gyoza is possibly the best Chinese takeaway I have ever had too...
I've only been here 2 weeks...
Mountain View is also nice. Food there is very rich!0 -
Get down to Tooting some cracking curry houses down there0

No, I have a really good kitchen luckily. I am just one of these people with a fantastic community spirit that is ensuring during this pandemic I support local businesses through this tough tough time.AFKABartram said:
If you don’t mind me asking, you got no kitchen at the moment @Husksris or is that a typical fortnight?Huskaris said:Having recently moved to Chislehurst and tried more or less every takeaway....

You monthly food spend must be through the roof! Do we need to send these two round?
Well, it's very partially that, mostly the fact I am a greedy bastard.
Imagine that scene in Alan Partridge where he is panicked having drivwn to Dundee in his bare feet eating Toblerone, substitute the Toblerone for a selection of burgers and it's basically me.

I should have realised "soon" meant that very evening.Rob7Lee said:I r never had takeaway but it’s the best Indian in Chislehurst in my view.
It was really really good, the lamb biryani was unbelievable. The only biryani I have had that is comparable to the Babur in Brockley, which is a fantastic indian restaurant.
Thanks for the recommendation!0 -
10/10, just rewatched them for about the 50th time the other day.Pelling1993 said:

Winner for best restaurant / delivery service must be "Knowing Meat knowing you", surely...... Based on the name alone I will check it out.Huskaris said:Having recently moved to Chislehurst and tried more or less every takeaway....

Their chicken burger is amazing.
I think it's out of someone's house which is actually really nice, I think they are seeing if the idea has legs (their food hygiene rating is 5 though!!! Wouldn't want to compromise on that).0 -
Agree, Ziyafet is excellent food at reasonable prices... I’m a big fan.guinnessaddick said:
You should try Ziyafet just up the road from there. The place isn’t much to look at, but the food is great. The prices are very reasonable.PopIcon said:
Yes, I went in there last day before lockdown. Took one look at the prices on the menu and left.kidbrookeaddick said:Think the new place you are talking about is Rox (Turkish meze).Have eaten in there many times and love the food in there.0 -
Why should Tooting Indian restaurants be any better than say Woolwich, Lewisham, Bexley, Bromley, Greenwich etc......I find that rather curious?cafcsinger said:Get down to Tooting some cracking curry houses down there

Lots of competition in Tooting (50+ places) and the restaurants are different to the usual high street Indian. There are various places specialising in regional Indian cuisine, Pakistani, Sri Lankan (I'm a massive fan of Apollo Bananaleaf), specialist dosa places and vegeterian. A lot are BYOB with no corkage.0

If that’s the case it would explain it.....must admit I am not aware that there is a large Asian population in Tooting, I’ll take your word for it.hoof_it_up_to_benty said:

In terms of South London Tooting has one of the highest Asian populations. You have a big choice when it comes to food.SoundAsa£ said:

DON'T get a takeaway from Jolpai in Mottingham. We've just had one that was the worst Indian ever.0

The Raj Moni at 10, Plaistow Lane Bromley was always very good but it’s about 4 years+ since I was last there.
Used to order Railway Lamb.....though if I remember rightly it wasn’t on the menu last time I was there but they went ahead and cooked one especially for me.......fantastic!
Very friendly family run and staffed, with a touch of culture and class about them too.0 -
I revisited the Star of India in Eltham back in January for the first time in a long, long while as I no longer live locally.
Lovely food and very friendly service.
Not saying it's 'the best in SE london' as per the title of the thread as, not being local anymore and thus rarely eating out there, I feel unable to comment but there's no doubt in my mind that it's decent.2 -
Agree, I don't know what it is about the star, because I've definitely had better curries, but I love the place. Sentimental value maybe but I really look forward to a meal there.LenGlover said:I revisited the Star of India in Eltham back in January for the first time in a long, long while as I no longer live locally.

Try The Star Of Bengal, Peckham. Great food but might give you the Trotters.0
