I personally have supported Schwartz multiple times but I disagree with your comment that 'It isn't working out for him and as it stands, probably isn't going to now' . There's every chance he will still cut it for us, he even has the rest of this season for it to fall into place. 14 games is a long time.
It is clear that since joining things haven't gone to plan. That much I agree with.
As you say:
- new country
- playing for a new team
- no family
- no time to socialise
- Only time to see others is in training and games.
To write him off as not going to work now is as crazy as writing of Karlan when he hadn't scored many goals for us in two and a half seasons. Or writing off Igor because he hadn't ever seemed to recover his goalscoring prowess following his back injury, but was important in us obtaining a play off place in 18/19.
It seemed going on loan to Crawley was the end of the road for Karlan with us. Instead things started falling into place for him. He came back and was spearhead of our attack alongside Taylor and was a changed man.
I have faith that whatever happens in this first half a season, with a summer with Bowyer or a new manager and the squad we will see what he can really do. I still have faith he could get 5 goals this season if we change how we play to cut out the lazy long ball tactics.4 -

The assumption seems to be that in the summer there's going to be something of a clearing out/rebuild of the squad. Given a chance to properly integrate and in a team that he has a part to play in, Schwartz may very well come good.
As it stands, he's not even a square peg in a round hole. He's a peg without a hole to be put in. A poacher/finisher type striker does not really answer the questions asked right now, but I think even hypothetically writing him off just yet is a bit premature.5 -
Also we seem to bring Ronnie on for the last portion of the game where we are either chasing it or trying to see it out. Would like to see him get a few starts in a row to work up an understanding with either Aneke or Stockley.4

We play a 2 fun games in our house when watching Charlton play. One is predict the minute that Ben Watson will get booked and the other is to predict the number of touches Ronnie will make when he comes off the bench. Livens up even a 3 nil loss. I for one want Ronnie to start so I can change my prediction standing from 2.0

Ronnie has barely had a chance since he's been here.....
definitely one for next season - he will score goals with the right players around him6 -
Exactly the sort of player that will get lost with El Bow's pin a tail in a donkey line ups. He will shine if the teams fortunes suddenly take a turn for the better, or perish the thought, someone halfway competent is brought in as coach.1
-
I also think he will get alot of goals if a team plays to his strengths I'm hoping he starts this week as I think the match against Oxford will be played more on the ground rather that long high balls which just isnt his game imo0

I'm staying patient with Ronnie as there's lots of extenuating circumstances as to why he hasn't had more of an impact but, quite aside from the fact he's only scored one goal, the bloke must be on for some kind of record for fewest touches of the ball per minute played. Thankfully, the few touches he has had have shown glimpses of a bit of quality but he has got to figure out a way to get more involved in games and affect our attacks more - it's not solely down to service.

You could argue loads of strikers would score loads of goals if teams played to their strengths.

I do agree with Bowyer tho that he has to adapt. Foreign football is slower and more technical, League One football definitely ain’t. Problem is he’s 32.1 -

I have felt for him a bit so far as I think he needs a run of gamesHe is likely to be looking for a house so he isn’t stuck in a hotel where he can’t even go down to the restaurant, possibly having 3 meals a day at the training ground. His family will come as soon as covid restrictions make that possible. He has 2 years left on his contract, you cant write him off after 8 weeks.
Why can you see him leaving? He can’t signe up to Reed, get another job and gives a months notice!4 -

A bowyer type player is mentioned a lot and he does not strike me as one of those. I hope I am wrong here about him and I do appreciate this season is a extremely tough time for him to start so hopefully kicks on a bit the rest of the season and next

So if he is a dud, and we all agree that this is a Thomas signing - does TS get a free pass on this foreign import? Considering all we said to each other for 5 years was we wanted no more foreign punts and more proven league one talent?0

That’s a couple of massive IFs that you’re basing that entire argument on.1. He’s barely had an opportunity to show what he’s about. When he’s been presented with chances, he’s shown he can finish. 2. Likely a Thomas recommendation but don’t think he held a barrel to Gallen’s head and made him sign a Dane.
Regardless, it’s less about the imports themselves and more about the intention behind them. Roland shipped a load of second rate players over from Standard/STVV because it was more cost efficient for the network to have all these players playing games wherever he could fit them. Thomas would be signing players because he genuinely believes they give the team a better chance of winning.2 -

The Dane has not been playing as much as he'd like.0 -
It made much more sense to sign him when we first tried than when we finally got him. In hindsight it made even less sense once the window had closed as well.
Regardless of how good he is he is 31, never played in this country. He signed during a globe pandemic under a salary cap. He hadn't played a first team game for about 6 months. Compare that with Stockley and its not hard to work out which one is more likely to hit the ground running.
He would have been perfect for the way we used to play, all those little cut backs in the box. But we haven't played like for a long time now. I think he would have played well with Williams to be honest.
It's like buying the candles and forgetting to make the cake. Hopefully next seasons cake is ready on time else he will be sat in a cupboard gathering dust.

Considering that our team selection ( for a number of reasons ) has been like Woolworths Pick and Mix I think that the bloke deserves a chance once things have settled down.5

At one point he was played apparently as a winger, no wonder he's struggling right now.1 -

Buyens
Bulot
Teixeira
Ben Haim
(and whilst controversial I actually thought Tucudean compares well to some of our recent guff).
Ajdarevic (blowing out his arse but played a key role in keeping us up)
Not to mention a transfer policy that gave the likes of Bauer, Sarr, Gudmundsson.
As I say - interesting to see what the summer brings minus a salary cap.6 -

I hope we grow our scouting network and look abroad. As long as the majority of signings aren’t punts then no issue with where players come from for me.0 -

One of the advantages Powell had is he played with or against almost all the players he signed so knew exactly how good they were.0 -

As I say - interesting to see what the summer brings minus a salary cap.Of course there were a couple of decent ones later down the line but that first transfer window was a massive mistake and totally soured the whole relationship between fans and owner from the very beginning.
Roland’s first transfer window consisted of:
Astrit Ajdarevic (loan from Standard)
Reza Ghoochannejhad (perm from Standard)
Yohann Thuram-Ulien (loan from Standard)
Loic Nego (perm from Ujpest)
Anil Koc (loan from Standard)
Piotr Parzyszek (perm from De Graafschap)None of these players were good enough and four out of five were signed because they weren’t getting enough minutes at their previous network club. The other two ended up with us because Thomas recommended it (Nego & Parzyszek).
That next summer window, the quality of recruit improved dramatically but Roland had already made that name for himself with the way he treated Powell, Kermorgant, Stephens, Solly, Morrison and others.0 -
