Hopefully we'll now see the reverse from Harry Kane that we saw in 2018
Started quickly there and burnt out when we got to the Semi-Finals... As JohnBoy said after the earlier games, Kane has a habit of going on a barren run and then turning it around out of no where!!

Pickford to Phillips as a unit are unbelievable at shutting down teams. Germany had a few snapshot chances but that unit didn't let them get a real hold of the game all 90 mins.

Keep it tight until the 60/70th minute and then he comes on to open up the game against a tired team.4 -
I don't agree with that. He's not Chuks Aneke coming on to batter tired legs.SELR_addicks said:

Southgate is playing a risky game but is getting it spot on so far.
If Werner scores in the first half we probably lose 1-0…..but Pickford saved with his legs.
England didn’t have a shot in the second half until Sterling scored, but Southgate is happy for that as long as the game is tight and it was.
This is not a style of play we are used to seeing from an England team, patient and cautious, but it is working so far.
We are basically sitting in and waiting for our opponents to make a mistake in their final third, it’s not edge of the seat stuff but it’s getting the results.2 -
Grealish probably has the tightest ball control for us though, so will keep the ball and is dangerous with it8

You kidding? It came off the side of his head he was trying to head it with the front.DRAddick said:
It was a perfect header. Put it where he wanted to, giving the keeper no chance. Plenty of negatives to say about his performance, stop making stuff up to be negative.Dazzler21 said:Kane's header was wildly poor, but it went in so it was perfect.
With his head angle though he'd have headed wide if he got it right!
I don't care either way a goal is a goal and the intent was to score.1 -
Just adds an extra element to the game. Him drifting in and out of the channels opens up space for Shaw, Sterling and Kane.Chunes said:

Shaw only began bombing forward once Grealish came on, because that space down the wing suddenly was now there.0 -
That was a massive result, obviously for progressing, but to get that monkey off of our back. The psychological boost that we can beat top teams will be what pushes us on for a few years I think, with such a young squad.3

I am starting to think that maybe Gareth Southgate, spending week after week with the players and seeing them in training might bizarrely know more about how to pick the England team, and analyse throughout the game than me and people on here.
Ask me again on Saturday though.11 -
Grealish is #1 for 'chances created' in the prem (best league in the world) and top 10 in Europe, and all while playing for Aston Villa. He's just come off the bench and laid two on a plate for England. He should be starting.7

They haven’t played anybody of note yet though.Dazzler21 said:

Apart from the first 10 minutes I thought we were the better side.
Great opportunity now for us. No easy games though1 -

Grealish is such an arrogant dick.
Good player though.2 -
We had a shaky opening 10 minutes, but once things settled down, England always looked the better side, imo. Yes Germany had their chances - but they're Germany, they will always have players good enough to hurt you. Overall I thought we beat them in a fashion they often beat us, by just being a bit better all over the pitch. The negativity that surrounds any England performance is getting ridiculous, I swear some fans expect England to spend the entire time camped in the opposition's defensive third and surrender zero shots against. Anything less than that and people just think England are shit. Germany aren't the force they were but they're still good and England just largely nulified them and created chances against them.Sterling will always frustrate, but he's delivering when it matters. Kane looks lacking in something, but he played a part in the first goal with a nice control and lay-off (choosing the right option in the process) and then got his goal. Hopefully it kicks starts him from here. The defence we were told would come unstuck against anyone decent just kept a 4th clean sheet on the trot, and the much maligned Phillips had his 4th good game of the tournament. The starting XI had England in the game at the hour mark, and the subs changed things up for the better.Honestly, from my perspective, it couldn't have gone much better and England played like genuine contenders. We'll probably fuck it up against Sweden or Ukraine now but definitely time for few people to lighten up a bit and enjoy the ride.6

I think he was best deployed as a sub today as the game plan was clearly to make sure we kept it tight and then open up in the last half hour using the pace and energy of our youthful side and it worked. Next match, England will have to take the game to the opposition more, particularly if it's Sweden. Definitely makes sense to start Grealish in that game.

Only 1 of Spain, Italy and Belgium can make the final, some brutal matches on that side
Italy would have to beat Belgium and Spain to reach the final2 -
